Greetings! I've been hoping to play some tennis, but only see tennis clubs and facilities that you have to pay to join or per usage. Are there any free public courts that you can just walk on? Any help greatly appreciated!
Free and Switzerland in the same sentence, you've not been here that long have you?
How did you guess? I guess I'm still harbouring some small hopes that I'll find it.
I've looked into many tennis courts around Zurich (there are plenty). Neither of them are free. Cheapest I've seen is chf 18 an hour, which isn't bad when you compare it to how much I pay to play pool over here.
I am afraid free tennis courts isn't the rule over here. It was the same way in Germany, too. Too, bad, really. That and the library system could use some help!
Not free, but the Sportamt maintains some: http://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/content/...isplaetze.html
You can reserve a court - it's 10-20 CHF/hour depending on when you want to play, or if you can commit to the same time/day every week for a half year, it's a little cheaper.
Thanks for the tip!
There is no free beer. Please read my signature General Infotmation About Swiss Tennis below.
Usually CHF 10-20 per clock hour is a going price in summer. Check Mythenquai.
ahahahah nice!
