I have been given the go-ahead to run a beginner's class at the Irchel University sport centre on Friday, starting at around 6.30pm
(There is a warm up Frisbee game and stretching from 6pm)
The sport centre already has a fully functioning Fencing club, however it almost entirely made up of Épée fencers (Sabre has pretty much been forgotten about in Zurich).
Things to know:
1.) I am by no means a coach. However, I have been fencing Sabre for 9 years and while I may not do everything perfectly myself, I have been corrected enough times to know what to look out for and what it is meant to look like.
2.) The club does not currently own any Sabres, which is an evident problem. However I am willing to teach footwork and the basics, and if you're still interested after that there is always Épée fencing (and some Foil) going on and you're more than welcome to join in with that.
I have spoken to the club, and if this group goes ahead they will also make an effort to try and find some.
3.) This is all free and very casual. I'm just trying to rekindle some interest in Sabre around Zurich
4.) I am here as an International student from Australia. I cannot speak German and therefore the lessons will be given in English.
5.) Please PM me if you are interested
Ciao
