Free SIM from Vectone Mobile

A new MVNO (virtual network operator) using the Sunrise network is now offering free SIM cards. You can order it on-line, and then e-mail or upload a copy of your passport/ausweis in order for them to activate it (Swiss law). Just be aware the SIM card has no time/money on it, so you'll need to buy a (minimum) 10 CHF credit so you can make calls (can top-up on-line or at a Kiosk or Avec).

Their big "1 Rp per minute" promotion is till the end of the month, and is only for some countries. Also note that there is like a 20Rp connection set-up fee for some calls. So read the fine-print, and don't be sucked into the big, magical "1Rp per minute" poster

...anyway, not a bad deal, you do get something for nothing...sort of. They're banking on you topping it up with 10CHF in order to use it

There is another freebie as well from Lycamobile CH as mentioned here , but riding on the Orange network.

Thanks for the useful post.

However, according to the terms of Vectone, everyone should notice "1 Rp minutes expire 30 days from date of top-up", and void to be charge extra.

Hi guys

I was also interested in this cause I moved to Switzerland last year and wanted to remain in touch with my family and friends back home. I have to say that I am very pleased, especially with their international offer. I am able to speak to anyone at home for hours, and its sooooo cheap And the quality of good also, which for me was very important. I hope they will have some good offers in the future also!!!

Be careful about lycamobile. I bought my sim last week, my phone always show roaming in CH. That's fine as long as the charge is correct. The thing is that my phone cannot connect to any of the local mobile network in Italy. In short, roaming is a problem.
