I will be moving to Switzerland in April. I would like your recommendation where I can stay: Freiburn or Bern seeing that my job is in Konofilgen.
Considering cost of living, things to do, spend time to move around, cost of transportation train, so on… or any other place that you can consider a better option.
Fribourg is much further away so Bern or outskirts would be better. Thun might be another option if you want a big town to live in rather than a small village/town.
Depends what you’re after and what the rest of the family is up to. We personally love Fribourg. It has a unique village size city, medieval castle yet hipster feel which is pretty unique and you wont get in Bern. But its small.
Bern is…meh…nothing special about it. Its the one city in Switzerland which suffers a sort of an identity crisis as its a capital and at the same time is ashamed to be pretty dull and “small” really. Yes, you get more Coops, but IMHO it has no vibe on its own
Thun, as zuzi666 suggested is a good option too. The lake is stunning and in a way you get Zurich vibe at a fraction of the cost.
