French IBAN for Swiss resident.

Do you have an address and a french phone number? If you have this, then open the revolut account using the french number. Doing this will give you the fr IBAN.

If not, then as others have suggested, you will need to go there and open an account.

Hope this helps.

My goodness!

I've been with CS (now UBS)

They charge me EUR 3.00 for every EUR 1600 cash withdrawal I make (max allowable amount I can take in a day).

They charge me EUR 50.00 per year for the debit card associated with that account

They charge me a monthly fee for the privilege of having that EUR account

Incoming wires in the account I believe are free - and no real card limit when paying by card

Am I right in reading that I can have a postfinance EUR account and basically everything is free? Do I need to do anything special, like have a mortgage with them etc... with them?

They told me in the Support chat.

Yes, I have a PF EUR account since 10 years now. Actually I have both current and savings accounts (plus a fixed term deposit account).
Incoming/Outgoing wires are free. I am not sure if Account maintenance is for free, I pay fees for the whole banking relationship. Withdrawing at Postomat ATM is for free, max 800 EUR per withdrawal, 4k per day, 20k per month, but you have to go in person to the branch and ask for that, otherwise they limit at 10k per month. Cash deposits at the regular post office counter are for free Cash withdrawals at the regular post office counter incur a charge (1% of the amount), but hey, do you really need more than 20k per month in cash? If yes, then simply open a 2nd account and withdraw another 20k from the Postomat ATM.

I am not sure if there are any requirements for such an account. I do not have a mortgage with them, only a Pillar 3a, maybe they have minimum balance requirements, otherwise they charge something, but I cannot comment on that. I have a banking package with accounts in CHF and EUR, so maybe there are discounts.

As for UBS, I don’t have a current account nor a EUR card, only a savings account to avoid the maintenance fees, so I cannot comment on all the fees you mention. Sure, my money is in a savings account and not available all the time, but this was the whole point, I put it in there to fix in a fix term deposit on 3% interest rate for a year, compared to the peanuts you get on regular savings account. When I take the money out, I need to pay 5 EUR or something like that for the outgoing transaction, I can live with that…

Many of these Internet-based companies give me a headache.

I signed up with Wise here in Switzerland so I can use their prepaid credit card in neighboring countries. They gave me a Belgian IBAN number I had not requested, also a UK IBAN number also not requested.

No, it s not possible with just address and phone number. Revolut requires French resident permit card or long Visa type D. This is what their support told me.
