French Lessons in Lausanne [free]

Hi all,

For those of you living/arriving in Lausanne and planning to embark on the journey to speak French, there are 'free' classes being offered for a few weeks starting the 14th of July.

I say 'free' because the classes take place outdoors, so I dont think they will be as straight forward as classroom classes, but I believe they are meant to be a mix of socialising and learning at the same time.

A nice way to meet new people, enjoy the beautiful weather, and perhaps find out about some other classes.

here's the brochere: http://www.lausanne.ch/DataDir/LinkedDocsObjDir/17787.pdf

I plan to attend myself having not started lessons anywhere yet.

Hi All.

Just to update this.

This course finished and new courses are starting (or have started as of last week) all over Lausanne and area.

This pdf has a listing of all the organizations that offer free (or nearly free, i.e. maybe they charge a tener) French classes for those living in Lausanne.

to a Mod: Could the title of this thread be updated to remove the Vidy-Plage reference as it is no longer valid?

thanks!

Just wanted to bump this, sorry if that's not allowed....but maybe some people didn’t see it last week.

Many classes are coming into their 2nd or 3rd week, so it will be getting late to join after this week I think. The organizations offering free classes are from pages 7 – 11 in the pdf of the link above.

I am going to the ESPACE MOZAÏK – APPARTENANCES one (Located near Flon metro station), and the teachers there are brilliant. They offer beginners and medium level classes (different days of the week), as well as a conversational group.

As well as learning French, it is a great way to meet people if you are new to Lausanne and area.

Do you have any idea if there is something similar in Geneva?

I don't really know, sorry

The city of Lausanne has a 'department' for the integration of foreigners , and they print/put together this p amphlet which is available for people going to register with the city when they first arrive in Lausanne (the same office to get one's visa).

So perhaps Geneva has an equivalent office for 'integration' that prepares a smiliar document? I understand that most cities offer free language classes though they aren't always easy to find. In fact, I only know about these classes becuase I was in the summer classes offered by the city and they gave us each a copy of the pamphlet at the end of the course.

I also know of other classes that aren't on this pamplet, and it was only through word of mouth that I know about them. Doesn't really help someone recently arrived, however.

I would love to join this course please, give me additional information
