[French] Self-study for DELF B1/B2

Hi all,

Has anyone studied for DELF B1/B2 by themselves? If so, what did you do, and how long did it take you to prepare for the exam?

If you studied high school French at high level and you have been keeping up with speaking/listening in daily life, then almost no preparation needed at all for B2. Practicing some model exam papers would be advisable so you know what sort of questions to expect.

I did have the help of tutors to prepare me for the oral presentation but for the written part of the exam I bought the français avec Pierre preparation course which was pdfs and maybe some videos (can't remember) and learnt the start and end of the different letter styles off by heart. I did really well in that section. My worst section was the oral comprehension which was some multi-choice and some long answered questions. There are heaps of prep exercises that you can do online for that but even when I did some of those with french tutors they guessed the wrong answer too Here is a website https://savoirs.rfi.fr/ Also doing dictation helped me with that too. I haven't lived in the French part so didn't have everyday exposure to French, so if you do then this will probably be much easier for you.

Unfortunately, I have not studied French for so long. I started B1 courses at some point. Now, I only do self-study.

I will check model exam papers, however. Thanks for the idea

Wow, thanks for all the information.

Studying dictation is a good idea. I used to do it to learn spelling better, I should try the website you suggest. (I think the website I used was TV5monde)

I do live in French part but we often speak English in my work place. Most of the time, it is still not easy to understand everyone...
