French-Swiss border geneva speed camera

Are you driving on a Swiss licence?

In which case there is no points system.

Thanks for the news; looking at your location you are living in France? French drivers licence?

I was flashed, on Swiss plates, by this one back in November. Not heard anything so far, although annoyingly we did get one from a mobile camera, or possibly just a parked unmarked car, in a village near us in France. 62 in a 50, 90 euros, or 135 if not paid in 46 days.

@Chiron Are you sure it's 15 days for yours? I've got the form in front of me and it states clearly "46 jours suivant le date d'envoi de l'avis..." (or 61 if using a bank card). Odd if it's different on yours, but maybe it's cos you is French and I'm foreign.

In our limited previous experience of French cameras, it's clear that so far not all Departments in France are following up with the Swiss authorities, so I'm hoping that's the case with this Geneva autoroute one.

Living in France, therefore lose a point. One point out of 12 not too bad. Definitely 90 euros within 15 days. Must be because I live in France.

I was wondering why I had not received my fine yet. Seems they are rather busy.....450 cars flashed EVERY day.

The old 30kmph speed limit on a dead straight dual carraigeway trick eh! A licence to print money. If they were serious about crippling people to a ludicrous speed limit they would go back to the days of a person on foot walking in front of your vehicle with a red flag.

I was also flashed by this cam back in November 2011 but so far no fine receive yet.

Actually that cam was set up there because a number of border guards have already been run over by cars thinking a dual dead straight carriageway and a dual dead straight carriageway with a customs checkpoint are exactly one and the same thing.

But don't let facts get in front of the red-flag waving person, they may slow him / her down even more.

Here is a recent article on precisely this radar.

Bardonnex: 450 voitures flashées tous les jours

In fact, this radar is the most profitable in the whole of France!

Such a dangerous place ... not.

I was wondering if there might indeed be a good apparent reason for this camera's placement. However, it seems to me that raising money by means of speed trap tickets is inappropriate when considered in the light of the border guards' lives lost or injured.

My premise is based on the following: that a speed trap that claims the most victims in the whole of France (alleged elsewhere in this thread), is clearly neither preventing speed nor reducing the risk to life. It is garnering profit for France at the expense of Border guards (not quite sure if these are Swiss or French - it's probably clear from the thread).

As to the difference between a clear dual carriageway and a border post, again clearly the approach is insufficiently managed by means of the traffic management environment - for if it were then a trap would not be installed.

In short, preventing death or injury is preferable to profiting from it.

I drove past this today for the first time and saw a flash when i was right on it doing around 56.

More worried about being in the right lane 😭

Is it 50 or 30?

The last camera before you hit the border is at 30. It is the most profitable speed camera in France, located on a fairly steep (for a motorway) downhill gradient.

It’s a border crossing ffs! And there is a huge “Radar” sign a couple hundred metres back.

Not only are their border guards there are others on the roadway. Truck drivers, normal people getting their tax refunds, change, toilet. Vignette sellers.

No sympathy for anyone caught here.
