Fritz Hansen Chairs

Bit of a strange one this but here goes the story:

Recently bought a table from Ricardo (Switzerland's ebay equivalent) to go in my new flat when i move in. The table came with 4 chairs that i wasn't so keen on, but would be useful.

Anyway, when looking at the chairs a bit more closely when getting them home turns out that they may be more valuable than I or the person selling thought (think there was some strange circumstances like eviction or something not your typical Ricardo sale and maybe not the original owner selling them).

It looks like they are from the brand "Fritz Hansen" and a quick website search came up with the following site and I think I have identified the chairs.

http://www.fritzhansen.com/en/fritz-..._7/3107/1/?i=i

That would make the chairs 420Euros each when new.

Does anyone know much about Fritz Hansen furniture? Anyone ever heard of it?

Are they not valuable at all, especially with the damage that you can see in one of the pictures I have uploaded?

Have I identified the wrong chairs and mine are just some cheap version?!

If they aren't valuable well I don't need to take so much care with them (and wouldn't hurt being out on the balcony), but if they actually have some value, maybe I can give them some love and attention.

Obviously not a Switzerland subject, but you guys seem a knowledgeable bunch and even gave me my answer to what the bell at the back of a tram is meant for!

I envy you! Those are real designer items and quite popular (both new and used) as part of the retro/scandinavian interior decorating theme. They're sold at all the high-end contemporary furniture stores. Keep and cherish them, if you are bothered by the paint chips have them professionally lacquered or spray painted. If you don't want them, sell them to one of the stores that specializes in selling iconic second hand furniture.

Thanks for the info. Could look into getting them redone for the damage.

Lucky find - as the table was really good quality as well (maybe I should check that out for its true value?!).

If you do get the chairs redone make sure they/you don't remove or cover up the Fritz Hansen label, that's your certificate of authenticity and guarantee that they are not copies, means a lot for the value of the chairs.
