From B permit to C in Valais

Let’s put some content in here.

I’ll be 5 years in Switzerland on January 2025. Currently reside in Valais.

I’m a B permit holder with a French passport, but malheureusement I do not speak French. A2/B1 at best.

Will I be able to get a C permit? Are they going to test my language skills despite of my nationality? What was your experience with getting a C permit after 5 years?

From what friend Google says:

You need to demonstrate level A2 in oral language skills and A1 in written language skills. You will need to take a language proficiency test to prove this.

Sadly I believe these are the language requirements for the 10 years C permit, not the fast track one. I’m just wondering if there’s any chance that Valais will simply send me a C permit before I even apply.

But didn´t you say you have a French passport? Then you can get a C after 5 years with a language certificate.

As a french citizen you qualify for a C permit after 5 years but you will need the language test. A2/B1 will be fine for that.

Until recently french citizens were exempt from the language requirements but they changed that.
