Hi

Given the strength of the CHF i was thinking about going to germany to buy a new kitchen and bathroom.

I was wondering, where is it that most people go when they go over the border ie. what is the nearest place with such large furniture shops from zurich?

We recently moved to Zurich and bought all our furniture in Germany. It worked out a lot cheaper. We went to Moebelmarkt in Dogern and Wohnwelt in Rheinfelden. Both stores are part of the same company. The store sorts out the VAT for you too.

We don't have a car but were able to take the train there easily. We didn't look at the kitchens or bathrooms. But it took 3 months for our furniture to arrive.

However, for the best kitchens and bathrooms I can highly recommend HS interiors in the UK.

They supply high quality kitchens and bathrooms and given the strength of the franc against the pound you'd get the best deal.

Another place near the border with lots of furniture stores in Singen (Industrie). Telling from the license plates on cars, this place is frequented by Swiss ;-)

If you're looking for something more upscale there's also Seipp in Waldshut and Tiengen.
