Hi Everyone,

At some point next year I'm going to need a new dining room table and chairs and ideally want solid wood rather than veneered, and something quite modern looking, rather traditional.

Does anyone have links to places in Zurich with websites?

Oh I guess it doesn't neccessarily have to be in Zurich either just close enough for me to be able to go and have a look around if I see something and for them to deliver.

I recommend interio (was there about 40 minutes ago). It's noticably higher quality than ikea, but still very reasonably priced. Pfister.ch is expensive. Natuzzi and Roche Bobois, serious quality and still overpriced.

I agree that Interio is higher quality than Ikea, however, the selection is considerably limited.

As for the other brands I agree that they are extremely expensive; one has simply to follow the sales periods

Thanks for the posts, I guess I'm collecting ideas with aim finding a bargin next year in the sales... I quite like the roche bobois site although the fact there aren't any prices make me think its too expensive - they also don't look as though have sales !

From what you've described, JYSK and FLY have what you're looking for - no, I am not a furniture salesperson but I happen to be in the market for such stuff.

Interio is great for all the bits and bobs like placemats, plates etc etc but I find their furniture a little too modern for my tastes. Something about the metal on furniture that drives me up the wall - there's always metal at the bottom of the sofa, dining table legs......gah.

Do you drive? If not, hire a car from mobility.ch one weekend and drive down to Spreitenbach in Dietikon. Its a furniture hub - interio, Pfister, Fly, JYSK, toptip are all very close to each other. Interio there is mahoosive!!! Great for comparison shopping. The Ikea there is smaller than the one in Dietlikon though.

Sounds like I need a trip to Spreitenbach, oh and a car, I know what you mean about the metal legs, I just want a dark wooden table thats quite square and chunky !
