Gandhi restaurant Luzern

Before the SLF gig next week, we plan to eat at the Gandhi Indian restaurant in Luzern. It seems to have good reviews on TripAdvisor, but has anyone from EF been there? Opinions? Any dish worth recommending? The reason I chose it is because it is next door to where we are staying for the night, Jailhotel Luzern .

I do not know Luzern much; been there 4-5 times as tourist. I had been to Schwanen Restaurant every time with different friends and always had good food (though last time the entrecote was not as good as previous times)

Your hotel seems only about 200-300 meter away from Schwanenplatz

Thanks, but we've set our hearts on an Indian restaurant; they are VERY few and far between in the Fribourg area .

Paddy, if you eat at Ghandi, will you post a review?

*Gandhi.

Paddy, is this the one in Lowengraben? I used to go to Ghandi, and for me it was the best curry in Luzern, but before the summer I discovered that the restaurant was converted in a kind of Chinese place, and since I never found out what happened! So did u actually go for dinner at Ghandi? How was it? But mainly...where is it now???

Never been to Gandhi, but when we go to Luzern, for Indian we always go here: http://www.kanchi.ch/

We like the food, and the view from the window is interesting.. lots going on. Especially liked the Masala Dosa.

According to their WEBsite

http://www.gandhi-restaurant.ch/gand...t.php?lang=eng

it still is Indian, but, again based on their WEBsites, the KANCHI looks nicer

I have not (yet) been in either, so have no clue about how they are in reality

Not been yet, we're going on Wednesday.

Thanks for the tip about the Kanchi, Karl, but the Gandhi is right next door and we'll be a bit pressed for time once we hit Luzern.

So Paddy, how was the curry? Did you actually go to Ghandi?

No we didn't . As you said, it is indeed now a Chinese type restaurant, yet still has a rather nice, functioning website .

However, we spoke to the Indian guy at reception in our Jailhotel and he recommended another restaurant close by, the Gourmindia, which was actually very good. I had a rather tasty chicken with spinach and mint curry. And they had Kingfisher beer .

Another tip, for a cheap night in Luzern, you can't beat the Jailhotel; clean and functional with a decent shower in each room for only 40.- per night for a single occupancy room. Basically all you need after pogoing and moshing to Stiff Little Fingers .
