Garage scam using reifendirekt.ch?

Thanks to this forum I found reifendirekt.ch with excelent prices for winter tires. Before buying the tires online I decided to first pay a visit to the garage recommended by the site which is around 1 block from my house.

The guy was really nice but he told me that it would be much better for me to buy the tires in reifendirekt.ch at the name of his garage , because if I use my name I would get an 8% bill from the tax office whereas at his name he can absorb that cost as expenses for his company.

That sound to me like bull***t because in reifendireck.ch it explicitly says that the tax is already included in the price, but I cannot find a real motive for the guy to say this, as the price will be exactly the same if I buy them or if he buy them.

My question is: does anybody of you who have bought in reifendirekt.ch had become a tax bill afterwards? Or had pay any tax at delivery?

Cheers!

I ordered, paid, tyres delivered, fitted, paid garage for fitting. No tax problems.

Maybe the garage thinks the tyres are coming from Germany? Maybe he is cheating on the Swiss tax?

If it's the same price, and ask him for a written quote, then stay with his idea, good friendly garages are rare.

As a business he probably gets a discount which of course he can use as a margin. Sure, he can claim the 8% MwsT back but he also has to charge it to you, unless of course you're paying him cash and he's not declaring the income in his books.

you DO NOT get a tax bill.

Maybe he means as grumpy mentioned?

maybe if coming from germany, he claims the 19% german vat rate and charges you the 8% swiss rate.

Thanks all for your input.

I went to the garage and after too much talking with the guy now it is clear his move. At first he did not want to reveal his "secret", but now it is out and thought that may be helpful or at least interesting for you to know.

It turned out that there is another website which is the sister of reifendirekt.ch, the name is autoreifenonline.ch. The difference between the two is that you need to have a garage to be able to register there.

His move was simply to order the tires in autoreifenonline.ch telling me that he ordered them in reifendirekt.ch (at the end is the same provider). With this he gets a garage-discount price and of course he can get his taxes back as the tires will be at the name of his garage.

At the end for me the price is exactly the same because as a private user I cannot order through autoreifenonline.ch to get them cheaper.

I let them do it his way. Better to have a garage owner happy with you than some loose screws somewhere in your car .

Good to see such practices still exist here, too.
