Duh, fixed to pick up an old acquaintance at the exit of the car park.
Guess what, it's closed for a revamp. No sweat - the "Kiss & Fly" is signed - just go to the far end of the now fenced off car park.
So I got there, spotted my friend, stopped and was immediately shouted at by a bulldog-like swiss female policewoman. I pointed out that I was just picking up a man who was 50cm from my car, but no, I had to move on NOW. St*ff that, I took the 10 seconds needed to let him into my car and moved off. No idea where the pick up & drop off point is supposed to be, but be warned...
This has been the case for quite some time. I park at arrivals (btw why did you want to park at departures for arrivals??). Hope this mess will be sorted out by Christmas time, or it will truly be pandemonium with all the ski pick ups!
Wait for it guys. Next week there will be a Thread in Complaints Corner about the Fr. 200.- fine for disobeying a police officer plus Fr. 150.- for halting in a no stopping zone.
Good question - in fact I've never been in arrivals to pick someone up . Either I drop people off or I park my car. Still, Kiss and Fly for dropping off was supposed to where I was attacked and madame certainly didn't have time to check what I was doing.
Last few time I've been picking up i went to either the underground car park by arrivals - free for one hour, lift take you right to arrival hall, easy. That was closed one time and ended up parked ground level, right outside arrivals.. 3chf for one hour.
Dropping off i always use kiss and fly..
I've been around 10 times in last six months and never had a problem.. lucky maybe.
I have worked out of there for a couple of years and it is really the worst airport in Europe. I hate it, you think it's bad just going once in a while, try it week in and week out.

At peak times, Christmas, half-term, etc- we ask relatives and friends to take the train to Yverdon, half-way to us, and we pick up from there. Much easier, and same for return.
BTW, arrival's car-park says 1 hour only- but if you go over they just charge extra. Yesterday I was there 1h30 and it was 3 CHF (instead of 2CHF for up to an hour). No prob off peak. If you have friends and family coming for Christmas, beware, and park in the undeerground car-park on the right just before arrival's open air car park, or make alternative arrangements, as above. They can pick up a free local transport ticket in arrivals hall to go to train station, for instance.
Now, now, just go to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris around Xmas or better still, when a strike of some kind is on (which happens quite often), and you'll come back blessing Geneva airport!
