German course in zurich what are your recommendations?

Yes Robertina, I did it and still doing it...Effect is not as live classes

I have studied at ECAP last year until B1, I had 3 different teachers. In my opinion most of the language schools are providing similar courses, however, the teacher may differ a lot.

In the statt Zurich webpage you can enter what type of course you would like to join, then they list all courses information such as price, time, length, etc.

Here is the link, you can enter the course you desire then compare.

Hi there,

I take my German at EB Zurich, and about to finish A2 after two years ( but its only once a week) :O

They have quite good choice of classes form once a week evening to intensive morning classes where you are able to complete one level in one months.

I am thinking of taking up some Skype conversations has any of you tried that?

Hi,

I heard a klubschule recommend, specifically the branch near Lochergüt. A1 course had two teachers: one Swiss German, one German. The German was a great teacher, the Swiss German satisfactory. The course uses Schritte textbooks which are well-written and clear.

Again, just passing on the review that I heard. Best of luck.

Personally, I am doing Skype once a week to fill in some holes in my education. Good teacher, ex-university lecturer with reasonable rates and comfortable manner. Austrian native. Do PM me for details!

Best of luck,

Niko

It all depends on what you are willing to pay and how often you plan to take the classes.

One day a week will not work. Intensive courses are the best option to prepare you for interviews etc. That being said, Migros Klubschule is quite good and the price is resonable enough. But, in my opinion, ZHAW would be a better choice. It costs a bit more, but the team, class size and level of teaching was far better than that at Migros.

Ah yes, forgot to mention that this was the intensive 4 hour-a-day course at the Klubschule. It's great value and worth the effort it seems, though as can be expected with larger class sizes, there was a good fraction of classmates who just didn't do the homework and so there is lots of revision. I'd have thought a plodding approach with lots of reinforcement is necessary in general though when you have 80 hours to go through A1.1.

And true, my one hour a week is barely worth it, but my Skype teacher gives me homework and is generally available for a quick question or two. It's mainly for conversation practice, but if I was learning fundamentals, or in the situation of the OP, one hour a week wouldn't suffice.
