Hello everybody
I am looking for an intensive german course in zurich area, Something that could quickly get me to the level where i can easily give interviews for jobs. I am already self learning and pretty much know the basics.
I have already looked at the forum but lots of threads are years old so how about we put the latest information here?
Thanks
I think Migros Klubschiule is good for a reasonable price.
I recently subscribed for skype classes with
http://www.easy-languages.com/ . Service is good and classes are usually offered in high german (not swiss german) as this is German based site. Costs 17.5 euro/hour.
I use MigrosSchule and its great , locations are ideal and quality of lessons are satisfying
I've started with a new school called infront sprachstudio - highly recommend it, its been great so far.

My husband and I go to Sprachwelten at Bodmerstrasse 4 Zurich. They tailored a course specifically for us as we needed to learn German quickly. We thoroughly recommend them.
Thank you for all your replies, could someone please help me with their prices, and generally how long does it take to reach B2? I already have basic knowledge of the language and around 400 words vocabulary of german.
In case for the Migros Klubschule:

I'd expect them to be in the lower price range (compared to their competition) for just about any course.
Hi It depends what would you like to achieve. I had some experience attending to Migro and Benedict. Prices are similar ~chf per 4 weeks. Benedict is a privat school where you can negotiate price and a bit down. If you go to Benedict you need to be well prepared for each lesson. Having said that you have to find a time to not only do homework but also study at home. This school is really demanding. Migro is completely different, most of the people who choose this one are looking for a job or even already work somewhere and need some basic German skills. I don't want to say it's worst but different.
Migros is decent and cheap
What are Migros like when it comes to preparing for the A2 / B1 tests? I took German classes years ago at Volkshochschule, Basel but never got around to taking a certificate. I am thinking of applying for citizenship and could probably do with a brush-up before taking the exams.
Cheers,
Nick
I attended the courses at Alpha (now called Alpha Sprach Welt) and I was happy with it. Based on my experience, it really depends on the teacher and the amount of time you spend out of class to learn (reading, watching German TV, etc.). My wife, on the other hand, attended the courses at EB Zürich and she really liked it. We both achieved level B2 in 1.5 - 2 years (from scratch).
Don't you need B2 for citizenship?
Hi, I agree everything depends on the teacher. I dont think that with Migro you achive your target.
Strongly recomend Benedict.
Not according to this page:
https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/portal/...rderungen.html
Spoken - B1.1
Written - A2.1
Reading - A2.2
Cheers,
Nick
I'm at alemania. I think it's good. Teacher is very good. Doing A1.3, starting A2.1 in two weeks time.
I've also been at Alemania - I think its decent for the price (ca. 300 CHF/month) and probably comparable to Migros Klubschule.
However classes tend to get quite big and quality varies a lot depending on the teacher.
My two cents on this topic...
Inlingua - Great place if you are a self-learner and need a little push, help or conversation. Groups are very small, it starts with 6~ people but they will drop over time and you easily end up in 2 or alone which is great for motivated learners. I can imagine attending this one till C1, However its price is pretty high.
EB Zurich - I know someone who took it for an intensive course and finishing it with a certificate exam. It's like a school, they try to "teach" and intensity can be their good. Price is about 1/2 - 2/3 what you would pay in Inlingua.
Migroschul - You need to have a miracle for a teacher, in most cases it sucks hard. I have references from few people with rare good experience who's admitting that he is really lucky and few others with low exp.
No other reviews/experiences with any other school. I would really suggest EB Zurich in case you have and want to drill faster. Inlingua seems to be great for working people.
(I assume you want to learn, otherwise don't even try and you will save money, your and others time)
Am I blind or is there no EDIT button?
I second this. I use Easy Languages, you can go at your pace and tailor the one on one classes to what you need.
Has anybody tried on-line German classes?
