Getting a Swiss phone without visa

Dear all,

I am going to move to Lörrach (Germany) in october and I am wondering if it is possible to get a Swiss phone contract while not living or working in Switzerland.

For me this is better, because 90% of my friends live in Switzerland and therefore I will be there a lot as well.

Thanks for the info!

I have had no trouble getting prepaid phones with just a passport - my parents in law also got some prepaid phones while passing through for vacation without any trouble. These were all from Orange. You would have trouble getting an actual contract, though.

Or you can just get a SIM card with Migros - that's why I did before I found a job here.

and if you really want a contract (in order to get a desirable phone or a package that is available only on contract), it is a trivial matter of asking a friend to do it for you...

Lol, okay.

But I guess the friend will get the invoices as well?

Or is it possible to get invoiced on a foreign bank account?

It would be nice if I could use mobile internet in Switzerland, for Whatsapp for example.

Hello Braincake,

You can use VoIP service. I am subscribed to Switzernet , they provide Swiss phone number and i't possible to subscribe even from Germany (only prepaid contract), without any visa or passport.

As most of VoIP companies, you can use the line from PC or IP phone... as well as on mobile. no matters how many devices do you want to have, you can do it with the same account and only one Swiss number. Also, they can guide you to configure your devices.

I hope this will be useful, I'm using this service about a year and everything is works fine.

Cheers,

MK
