I just put a TV up on the wall for the first time and I love how it looks, then I plugged in the cables - ugly ugly ugly. I'll buy some surface mount conduit but I think it will only be slightly less ugly, has anyone had a wall grooved to embed some conduit, and, most importantly finished invisibly?
The walls are solid and finished in what seems to be the standard dimpled wall covering in swiss appts. I see there are special grooving saws that can handle solid walls so it must be a "thing". I think this would be beyond my DIY skills especially finishing it inconspicuously; my only attempt at plastering is still mocked to this day. So I'm interested if anyone got someone in to do similar, and who and how much?
I knew it was going to be difficult to manage cables with wall mounting on a wall without too much furniture, so when I changed the media arrangement in our living room I went with a no-drill solution that also has a cable management route.

It just sticks to the wall and to the floor, it's not an eyesore, and it's fully reversible with zero fuss on covering holes etc. For me that's the best solution if you don't need a TV mount that articulates to move the TV around.
If you do manage to pull this off DIY or if you get an expert please update here - it's going to be useful for sure.
Thats an interesting mount, I did have an idea of getting some thin pedestal that clearly couldn't support the tv and try and make it look like it did and hide the cable in it, so make a feature of it.
In case any one else comes looking in the future for telly mount ideas, I am leaning towards this guys solution to hide cables
I have a 'Kabelkanal' (
https://www.obi.ch/kabelkanaele/kabe...eiss/p/1025360 ) and this looks surprisingly well and clean - I'd recommend - it's cheap as chips so you can try it and if it doesn't work for you just move to another solution. (also, there are different styles of them as well as colors)
Cheers, I'll be trying that tonight as a first attempt before I start building anything, I'm thinking if I can get some of this speckled covering for the walls and put that over the kanal it might be ok
We have one of those in the office/den/ex playroom and it looks surprisingly good.
Luckily we had the forethought to have the tubing installed in the living room when we built the house so we are wire free there.
