A few days ago on the GMail app the login to GMX went wrong. Since then I have tried many times to fix it with new GMX password but when I put the password in then its rejected by Gmail. I also have Thunderbird mail app and its no problem there. I deleted the GMX account from GMail then tried to add it again to GMail but the password is always rejected. Any ideas?
You do know that GMX does offer its own email app?

Solved the problem. To use external apps like Thunderbird etc GMX generates their own password to be used and not the password to login to GMX .$
Yeah, that’s the classic TFA gotcha.
IMAP does not have a way to ask for a TFA push.
