Going to Dietlikon from Zurich (Questions about Zones)

Hi all

I live in Zurich and I have annual ticket for zone 10. Since Zurich is counted as 2 zones, it makes me a bit confused when I want to travel out of zone 10 (esp. to IKEA in Dietlikon since I just moved to Zurich ). My questions are...

1) Is Zentrum Glatt in Zone 10 or the other zone?

2) If I would like to go to IKEA in Dietlikon, what is the best (cheapest) ticket to get there? Right now, I get off the bus at Zurich Altried and walk over the bridge to Glatt. Then, buy a short-distance ticket there to IKEA. Is this the best way?

3) If I don't have annual ticket for zone 10 and I buy a ticket to Dietlikon, how many zones do I need to buy? Is 1-2 zone enough? Or it has to be 3 zones?

Sorry if this question is duplicated, but I tried to search and didn't find the exact topic yet. I read in ZVV many times but still I don't get it clearly.

Thank you!

1 - Zentrum Glatt is in Zone 121, not 110 (which is what Zone 10 is called now)

2 - Hm, that might be cheapest (though, is the IKEA within the short distance area from Glatt?). I just buy a 1-2 zone extension ticket to add onto my Zone 10 pass, and then ride the 787 to the stop in front of IKEA. With my half fare card, a 24 hour extension ticket costs 5.80 ( http://www.zvv.ch/en/tickets/tickets...e-upgrade.html )

3 - If you are in Zurich and want to go to Dietlikon, you need a 3 zone ticket.

Thank you anowheels! You are so fast.

So, the end of Zurich is Zurich Altried then. Thank you for this because I just looked in the map in ZVV and got super confused. The picture here shows the connection line of Zentrum Glatt between zone 110 and 121.

Ah, how is "Short Distance" defined? I thought I could go anywhere within 1/2 hour. Is that correct?

Maybe this map is helpful for zones? http://www.zvv.ch/opencms/export/sit...zonen_2012.pdf - Zentrum Glatt is in Zone 121, though on the edge. Usually, if you're on a bus and it crosses zones, there will be a note next to the stop where the zone cross happens (e.g., "Zurich, Altried (Zone 110)")

For Short-distance, it varies how many stops it's good for - the ticket is good for 1/2 hour, but only to stops listed on the machine where you bought the ticket. For example, on the older ticket machines, there is a listing of all the stops where a short distance ticket could be used to (#8 on this picture http://www.zvv.ch/opencms/export/sit...es-current.pdf )

On the newer machines, there's a button next to where you select to buy the ticket, and it tells you which stops are included.

Hope that helps!

This is more than help! It's clear now. Next time, I'll check if the short-distance includes Industriestrasse station.

Btw, how to "Thank" in the post? I saw some people "Thank", but I couldn't find the button. I wanna to "Thank" you for this.

Thank you so much.

When you have more posts (10), a little thanks and groan button will pop up for your use

I see...

Hi anowheels, I already checked the stops included in the short-distance at Zentrum Glatt. There's no Industriestrasse! It has only stops in Walliselen. So, I guess short-distance is for stops nearby in that city/village and come connecting stops only. Lucky me that I was never checked by the ticket officer.
