Good face cream

I have. Creme de la Mer is the best face creme I have ever used, since I had kids I can't afford it any more but I would if I could as it made a big difference to my skin. I have also used La Prairie on a regular basis, I have never actually bought any as it is way too expensive, I got it all as presents. It is good but I would not rave about it.

Totally agree on the holistic thing, without the basics you will have rubbish skin no matter what you put on it.

I am gutted!!!!

Having said that, I swear by SKII. It contains Pitera and you can read the whole story of how its supposed to be effective here.

I personally felt the difference ever since I started using it a couple of years back. Less pigmentation and turned the condition of my skin around - from combination to normal.

Best investment ever.

My hubby found me this one day last winter and it works really well - Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Face Cream . It is rich enough to use for winter but is not very greasy, does not contain too many chemicals, very faint perfume.

I think if you hydrate well and nourish your skin on every day basis, massage it but not too much stretching, it does not matter in the end if it is the cheapest Nivea or some haute cosmetique..I'd just stay away from the cheapest paraben based products.

That range looks nice! There are no ingrediant list on the web site, do you know if they contain parabens?

There are some lucky people out there who can use whichever supermarket brand cream and shampoo they want and look great. Unfortunately I am not one of them and I really wish I could believe that there's no difference between cheap and more expensive cosmetics, but my skin and hair strongly disagree. Not using La Mer yet but it is not out of the question that I will one day.

Unfortunatley it is very difficult to find a paraben free product no matter what price you pay.

well, in terms of cheaper and not cheaper, for me i just know that for moisturizers, some make my skin irritated and some don't. some make my skin feel drier and some feel oily. i found that the lightest feeling without oily feeling is the kiehl's followed by weleda rosa marqueta (sp?) as well. in terms of anti-aging, i don't use any of the corporate stuff i think it 's all a load of ... but i do know that certain foods can help to regenerate skin, as well as facial massages.

other than that i think it's just up to good/bad genes and how happy you are. really, a smile makes you look much more beautiful than someone half your age!

I almost bought La Prarie, once, but then the sales women, at Jelmoli cuuld only tell me that the Sfr260 anti aging cream, is "like yoga for your skin"!! WTF And thats all that she could tell me, about 4 times too. I think for 260francs, she should adopt a better selling pitch. I walked down the ailse and bought Clinique Youth Surge, havent looked back since.

Yesterday, i went to a demo from Dr.Spiller, a German all natural brand, the water they use is from a spring in the alps. I'm trying the eye cream which only costed Sfr 38. lets see

Eeek, sorry Lou, no idea

Everything goes out of the window for me when I see the word "pitera". If you are thinking of giving this brand a go, this is the staple product:

Its been nicknamed "miracle water" by many and has a huge and loyal following in Asia, and it is used before you slap any cream on.

Yeah, I agree.

That Occitane line is paraben-free, they sell it in every Manor here. I actually really like Excipial (both Hydro and Lipo Lotio) and use it for my face as well. They sell it in pharmacies here.

I found the ingrediants on the on-line shop. It contains methylparaben so is not for me. Glad it works for you!

try to go natural. you can order Shea Butter online which si rally good and really cheap which is good for your face, and there's also Coconut oil, which is really good for the rest of your body. you can get coconut oil in the supermarket, but I am not sure about here. But you can order online. The Swiss are behind when it comes to natural stuff like that. I tried to find goat's milk soap and they thought I was nuts. Why wouldn't I want the chemical soap? lol

guess what else. you can also use olive oil. but it's heavy duty. but it will solve your dry skin problems.

The best anti ageing product is, according to a recent BBC programme I saw, anything with an appropriately high SPF in it. Block the sun from damaging your skin every day and you prolong its youthfulness.

I could get the cheapest SPF 20 cream from Coop but I found that goes a bit shiny on my face so splashed out on a L'Oreal one which is a bit more matt. Plain old suncream, whodathunkit?

Oh and don't smoke, apparently that knackers your skin, too.

Have you tried products from LUSH (fresh handmade cosmetics),they ́re really good

I like L'Occitane a lot - and they have a wide range of products. The Shea butter stuff is a little too greasy for my face for every day use, since I still have that combination thing going on, but if you have a really dry rough face, it can be helpful. I also like their olive extract and immortale lines (Immortale is supposed to be an herb/flower that prevents skin damage) L'Occitane is in the Zurich train station.

I also use Bliss "The age as we know it", and it seems to work well on my skin - I got that in the US.

Generally, you should stay out of the sun, drink lots of water and don't smoke to maintain good skin tone. Also wear sunglasses so you don't squint, and smile a lot. But in the end, it's up to genetics. My dad had the most goregous skin.. My grandmother claimed it was because after he was born in (he was a premie), she rubbed olive oil all over him every day while he was in the incubator (in 1926). And he always used olive oil soap.

And this is one place where a little extra body fat will actually help you.

I cant bring myself to walk into a LUSH store let alone try their products. The smell is overpowering.

Yup, stay out of the sun or you'll end up with leathery skin as you grow older. Thats something that has been drilled into me since childhood.

Smoking on the other hand....

if you really want to improve your skin, the best thing you can do is improve your diet.

Yeah, you ́re right its a powerfull parfume inside ,I had that problem too until one day when I got in and don ́t regret it.I ́m using the products ever since and I ́m very pleased. After all I prefer natural

Vichy (in pharmacies) offers really good creams around 30fr.

I love the Aqualia Thermal collection. Avene is also good.

I have never tried Khiels, but they have wonderful shampoos & conditioners

LUSH is my only addiction, I love that smell...

They actually do really good face cleaners (looks like little bar of soap, but face shaped), you dip it in water and "wash" your face. It is so mild you do not have to use any cream after that, same goes for body conditioners that I use in the shower, skips the moisturising step you gota do after you take a shower...And the massage bars, yum. It is fun to use, on yourself or erm, others.

Otherwise, I completely agree with sun block and non-smoking. Exercising and drinking water goes a long way, too.
