I'm just going to jump in here and see how long we can keep going a train of Newbie posts reprimanding (or helping, depending on how it's viewed) other Newbie posters for not using the search bar before posting.
There is a possible argument about new restaurants opening up and old recommendations being now obsolete ........
I am a big fan of Indian restaurants, and I've tried a few in Zurich and never been blown away by any of them. A couple of average ones are Kings Kurry and Kormasutra. A slightly better one is in Wiedikon called spice or spicy, something like that.
I'm with you, Shires, and have been frustrated, on occasion, that many of the answers/recommendations available elsewhere on the site are from 2-4 years ago. Are those suggestions always still valid?
However, I also found it humorous that we (general users/lurkers) have become so conditioned to expect the initial responses for newbies asking for guidance to "use the search feature" that newbies are now jumping in to provide that same advice.
Mostly, I just wanted to see if I could get a thread started with only newbies piling on.
Instead, I'm just using this to get me a few posts closer to the thank and groan bars...

2nd Tandoori BBQ, they've just closed their Bleicherweg restaurant and will be re-opening in a month, in Seefeld:

Chalet Indian down in Horgen is also worth a look. Some dishes can be a touch salty, otherwise good. A little bit more expensive, but in a really nice old building with views of the lake.
Had a bad experience Tandoori BBQ no wonder they are closing
I think we should search for the taste we believe is good. Since every ones taste is different.

Dont know about how fast the service is...but Vulkan is very good, you can find it on the net.
Also, Tandoor at Buhnstrasse. There are quite a few Indian restaurants in Zurich. You looking for something in particular, like South Indian food.
We had dinner at Zum Weissen Schwan (Predigerplatz 34) on the weekend and it was one of the best curries that I have had in Zürich!
Plus they are running a special on Groupon at the moment so worth a try
Best food in Switzerland.
Chalet India, Horgen.
Food takes a while to be on table, but worth waiting.
