Good Iphone app for cheap SMS?

I am looking for a good reliable Iphone app to send cheap (or free ) SMSs to CH and other countries as well. Any ideas?

MobileVoip is a pretty good app, however you need an account on one of most of the websites listed here . I personally use MegaVoip, as it has some of the lowest rates for the places that I text and call.

I am using mobile voip with megavoip but the sms is not very reliable. Have experienced this?

whatsapp ..........

Hmm how come? I've never really had any issues with it. Though I mostly sent SMS from their online page, but I do use the app on a regular basis when my phone is blocked.

Whatsapp is nice but my grandma doesn't have it.

I will try some more...the messages were received but with a certain delay. And yes...no apps that grandmothers do not have or phone or OS specific

How cheap is cheap enough? With jaxtr an SMS to CH is USD0.07 ... see full rates table .

No app that your grandmother doesn't have? Eh? So, you don't want to pay the 10rp or whatever it is to just send a text, you don't want it to involve an app at both ends, but you want it free or close to free.

What were you expecting?

This is pretty cheap... what I'm using at the moment.

Wahtsup with whatsapp? Says not available on the Swiss store.

Really? Well I just downloaded it for free elsewhere, so you know

Are you using a swiss account? Sometimes that is the problem - you're trying to buy in a store which does not correspond to the country where you registered your account.

Dear Adrian...I am writing this post seeing the beanbag from you so I am not going to be mean

It is not about the app because in order to have the app a smartphone is required. Plus the knowhow needed to use an app...missing with most of the grandmothers

I said sms in CH (15 rp) and other countries (22 rp) so it is not 10 rp. (my Sunrise plan).

I also said cheap sms (the word free was next to a smiley because of course I would not mind...who would).

But 22 yards made my day!

Are you using the service? Is it reliable? What about jaxtr voice?

Thanks for the tip!

Just checked now...it is available...

I haven't used jaxtr (my grandmothers aren't alive any more ), but others seem to think it's pretty good.

Exactly... Hubby uses Whatsapp too

Interesting, looks like even the networks are supporting customers who don't want to pay for sms or calls anymore:

Texting or SMS as we call it today celebrates this week it's 20th year anniversary from the first ever text

'' Merry Christmas''

20 years on no one has actually come to terms as to what a rip off texting really is and how such simple artwork could change all...

It took a blind man to see (excuse the pun)

Curious investors entertained or not

Whatsapp is free for the first year, then it cost a penitence after that, I guess.

heard a rumor that is being categorically denied by all parties... Facebook looking to buy Whatsapp.

I just loaded Vonage mobile, and it texts/sms's for free to others who have the app on their phone pretty good so far, no matter if in the states or in Europe. It is suppose to have free calling as well, but heard it's not very clear from other users, I haven't tried it yet.
