Good reasonable Indian Resturants

Hi All,

Can anyone please PM good reasonable Indian restaurants in Zurich. I tried Mughal Rani near Letzigrund but quite expensive. I have heard about Masala India near Stauffacher. Could anyone please post reviews regarding that restaurant or any other suggestions will be appreciated. Also I want names of some good Lebanese restaurants. Suggestions will be most welcome.

The words "cheap"/"reasonable" and "Switzerland" are diametrically opposed in this regard.

Masala at Stauffacher is indeed an excellent restaurant but it costs! I won't bore you with the details of the rip off rice debacle I and two others experienced there one time. Have been back since and all was extremely good, very tasty but pricey!

Still, in the absence of choice and on balance, it's better to pay over the odds for something you enjoy rather than something average or downright disappointing as is often the case for many used to paying way less for excellent grub!

Search the forum for recommendations on Lebanese restaurants. I've seen dedicated threads on such.

I don't think such a beast as a Reasonable (y priced) restaurant exists in Zurich, but for my money, I would always rather eat at Chalet India in Oberreiden than anywhere else serving indian food in Zurich.

The food is delicious but in an authentic and home cooked sort of way, the service is really friendly and the last time we were there we spent about half an hour making Sholay jokes with the waitstaff. Great fun!

Use the search function? There are several threads discussing indian restaurants.

This place in excellent and easy to get to. You take the train to horgen oberdorf and the restaurant is across the road. |Top quality food. Please book however

Best in Zurich is Tandoori BBQ , especially the lunch buffet.

The overall best in the region is Chalet India near Horgen as mentioned in a previous post. The lunch buffet is the best deal.

If your focus is reasonable price, Bombay Karachi near Central is a good bet. North Indian home cooking, nothing fancy, but good and quite cheap.

and next to thali1 there is a srilankan take away.

Vulkan in Zürich near HB used to be good and relatively reasonably priced. Have not been there in ages. Anybody got an update ?

Their lunch buffet isn't a patch on the a la carte options in terms of taste and quality. It's just a better than average buffet, and of course purposefully just bland enough that it will appeal to everyone eating it.

Their proprietor is also not the most professional hospitality provider I've ever come across- in a city with as many nationalities as Zurich, probably best to assume someone can understand the language you're using to berate your kitchen staff and talk badly about your customers.

If that attitude doesn't bother you too much the food is pretty good and reliably consistent. But not particularly reasonably priced!

Yeah he is kind of a little "special" and has pushed the boundaries of cheekiness once or twice when I have taken people there. However, still a pleasant guy overall.

Interesting collection of links.. thanks

Interesting collection of links.. any recommendation about preference? thanks

Try "Hong Kong" in Oerlikon! That's the best value for money Indian food restaurant we have found so far in Zurich. It's an Asian food place serving Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Thai specialties.

It's oriented mainly towards the hungry bankers from Credit Suisse who flock inside at lunchtime but we usually go there for dinner and it's always quiet and pleasant.

Food is fine and a nice meal (Chicken Curry + Raita + Nan) and a Coke will set you back no more than 35 CHf...which is pretty good for Zurich standards...

Any restaurant that does a mix of Indian, Thai, Chinese and Japanese could not be trusted to deliver a good curry. And 35chf ain't "that" cheap either...

Sher E Punjab is a reasonable option. Moreover, I could talk with the owner couple and get my dishes customized to my taste.

For example, a paneer bhurji preparation with fresh green chillies.

They always have some 3-4 entries ready, so I check what is readily available and then order something else to ensure a freshly prepared dish.

I can definitely recommend Restaurant Kerala in Zurich but its not very cheap but worth for the price

I like Kerala near bucheggplatz because the waiters and owners make an effort to mark gluten in their menu. It is however, not a cheap place. (But it is quite good)

There is one restaurant "Khans" near Bellevue, food is reasonable and quality is good and even taste is also good. I tasted Chicken and mutton biriyani and was well prepared.
