Good restaurant in Zurich for 'business lunch'

Any recommendations for a good restaurant in Zurich to have lunch during the week with work colleagues and/or clients?

I hear the new steakhouse "Goodman" is good, and the Japanese restaurant by HB, "Sala of Tokyo" offers a good deal during lunch. Any other suggestions?

Italian

More for clients than colleagues.

Zeughauskeller is always fun, noisy and crowded, so nothing for discussing important things:

Bärengasse is pretty posh, to go with important clients

Kaufleuten is nice as well:

And here is a website where you can search places that offer special lunch menus. There are also a lot of canteens and stuff, pretty interesting:

Cantinetta Antinori has nice italian food:

And if you go a bit further to Enge, weisses Rössli is a must (a bit special):

I live just around the corner from this establishment, but I've never been tempted to go.

Let's look at some items from the menu:

- Nüsslisalat mit Ei

- Hausgemachte Ravioli

- Kalbsschnitzeli mit Limonen Sauce

So far, so Zürich. Not that I have anything against these dishes, but they're not going to persuade me to go to a restaurant on its own.

But then we have:

Lammfilet an curry mit Kartoffelstock und Gemüse

Wow. That sounds 'special'.

So . . . can anyone who's been be persuasive?`

BTW - for a business lunch I would suggest Goodman or Orsino.

I also live just around the corner from Weisses Rössli and have never been inside. It always looks too dark, somehow

Just across the road from there, however, is the Bederhof. Casual dining on a good level with basic dishes cooked very well.

Never been there for lunch, only dinner. There's nice bar next to the restaurant for Apéros or after dinner drinks, which is always quite full.

I've been taken to Il Tartuffo and found the food, size of the restaurant and discretion of the service to be perfect for business lunches.

Although I enjoy their food, I would not consider the Tandoorhaus a good business lunch restaurant.

I like the Bederhof . . . it's a good neighbourhood restaurant and has a nice classic menu and wine list. However, I'm not sure I'd make a trip from elsewhere to visit it.

I too walked by the place for about two years, and didn't realize that it's a restaurant - but it's one of my favorite business lunch places now - http://therealpickygourmet.com/2009/...trasse-zurich/ - Certainly I'd prefer it to the Bederhof if you're meeting a client and their curry dishes are good. Not that I've often seen Curry with mashed potatoes but they pull it of. I'm only disappointed when they serve Spaghetti Bolognese as their lunch special .

I wouldn't really trust a restaurant that offers spaghetti bolognese (apart from maybe ironically). Tagliatelli's better with that kind of ragu.

You shouldn't believe everything you read in a Jamie Oliver pamphlet :-)

Maccheroni or Penne works better than Tagliatelli.

I do most of my business lunches at Lasalle, in Kreis 5. Good food in an 'industrial chic' ambiance.

Didi's Frieden is the perfect place for a business lunch.

It is not far from Zürich HB at Stampfenbachstrasse 32 - 8006 Zürich

They are closed up to October 24th for holidays.

Here is a sample of what they serve (Menu from September)

I don't read JO, thanks.

It's fairly common knowledge . . .

As far as I know, penne, although delicious, isn't used much for bolognese in Italy.

Food-snob catfight!

Interesting, as I always had you down as one and the same person really.

Next to Kaufleuten - La Piazetta.

Kronenhalle by Bellevue. I love the tradition, the staff and the welcome I always get there - ok it helps that the first couple of times I came there with a regular.

The terrasse at Bau au lac is great for summer lunch and brunch.

Oh well; if they "pull it off" then certainly worth a visit

Horses for courses in central Zurich

La Piazetta is worth visiting - but then so in Cantinetta Antinori

The Grasshopper?

Zeughaus is worth a visit - especially with those from out of town - reservation for the first (1200) or second (1300) sitting are pretty much essential - the sausage by length is worth it for non-locals!

I am useless with names - but the other classic beer hall up the road is also great.

The sushi in Picnic is plentiful

Munz is always busy - and the daily menu is reasonable - or has been in my experience.
