Goose fat

Hello and Merry Christmas to you all! Does anyone know where I can buy goose fat and parsnips in and around Adliswil/Zurich ? Roast potatoes are just not the same without the goose fat and I always have roast parsnips with the christmas turkey....HELP!!!

I can't speak for Zurich but down here ( GE ) Manor has both.

I got mine at Peace Foods in Baar this year, previously I have found it in Globus & Jelmoili in Zurich. Expect to pay arounf CHF16 for it (just giving you a heads up so you don't faint when you see the price ).

I thought Peace foods was practically vegan?.. obviously I'm wrong ( again )

They tend to do a lot of "whole foods" and also cater for cater for vegan or gluten intoleant diets so you are not wrong with the vegan angle. They are not a veggie place though, in the cafe they sell meat products & I am also getting my Christmas Turkey & Ham from them.

thanks... being down here my only experience with PeaceFoods was a cheesecake I bought from them when they had a stand at the ExpatExpo.

Only when I got it home did I realize it was soy-"cheese" cake... still one of the best I evah had tho.

i bought some last year from Jelmoli.

The Pie Shop at the Viadukt Markthalle have Goose fat at 9.90 a jar and the stall next to me has pretty good fat parsnips for 9.30 / kg. I've already got mine!

Hello!

Thanx for your reply. Could you give me directions on how to get to the market from Zurich train station please. Iv'e only been here 6 weeks and still getting my bearings! Looked up the market website and it looks a brilliant foodie place, can't wait to visit!

Kind regards C

NEVER buy goose or duck fat.

Rather, buy a tin of Confit d'oie or confit de canard.

It will cost you the same, well not quite, but not much more... And, as it is packed in goose or duck greese , you get to eat the yummy confit, PLUS have a jar of greese. YAY!

It is fabulous to cook potatoes or - turnips in!!!

Trams 4 and 13 from the HB and get off at Dammweg, the market is right by the stop. You can also get pretty good cheese here too

Keep the used fat in the freezer, it will keep for years!

(I make confit, so I always recycle the fat)

Nice fat parsnips are available at our local Migros.

Going to glaze them with honey.......mmmmmm.

try maple syrup

Are these available in Migros or Coop?

I have never seen them in Coop.
