Is it possible to get green sticker to get into german city centers while still being in switzerland? i know i could order online, but we are leaving on saturday so it's too late.
i will be traveling from zurich via berlin. I will stay only a short while in berlin so i don't really have time to go to some garage in germany to get this sticker... so is it possible to get it quickly while still being in switzerland?
or at least at some gas-station with garage near highway in germany?
It's called a 'Feinstaubplakette' (something like that) and you can get one from any garage (workshop, not petrol station) in Germany. They cost 5 euro, or at least they did last year when I got mine.
However, as the colour of the sticker depends on the type of vehicle, you need to take your emissions certificate with you (that is something that is issued when the car has the German equivalent of the UK mot).
If you look on the ADAC web site, they have a good section on it there, alternatively look on www.toytown.de (Germans version of the EF) and there are lots of posting about it).
Hope this helps a little!.
Cheers.
I think the green sticker is not available at garages. You can get one on line but not at short notice as it has to be sent to you The easiest thing to do is get one from the TCS. There is a small charge for it but they do the paperwork and it is then sent to you. At least that was the state of play when I got one last year. Either way it seems to me that it makes spontaneous trips to Berlin and the other towns using the system (can't remember which) a real problem.
I meant petrol stations along the motorway. Sorry
Check out the following link for information. You will need to produce you vehicle registration document in order to obtain the sticker. Only takes a few minutes for them to issue one.

Just don't get one. Germany isn't Switzerland, fines are low, there's not a policeman behind every corner (never seen any police check these stickers), and they know that foreigners typically don't have these stickers.
I can assure you that they do check in Cities and you will be fined for not having one. Is it really worth the risk for 10 minutes of your time and €5?
That`s correct actually, you do need the registration documents and also the TUV which is 2 parts (the mechanical certificate and also the emissions certificate).
