Japan, Korea, Philippines and even Taiwan are strategically too important to give up. It would be a no no by the GOP. But then again??
Probably because he doesnât know that the US had that many bases there before. Heâs not the smartest thing on the block.
And yes, he can probably get everything he wants via negotiation, but instead just keeps demanding they hand over the country. Talk about idiot.
Tough businessman tactics. Always bluffing. Do not forget. He is an X Con!
But thatâs not going to get him access to the rare minerals he wants.
Jim Baird did vote in the House today, wearing a neck brace
Perhaps President Trump thinks the Russian subs are already poised off the Greenland coast ready to sail down the US coast, in order to lay off their largest city & listen to their rock & roll.

This article might explain Trumpâs obsession with Greenland i.e. another crooked pay day for him and his family at the expense of the USAâs reputation and standing.
Actually come to think of it, Putin could cause huge embarrassment to Denmark, Greenland, NATO & Europe by pulling off another ârussian sub huntâ stunt around the sea off Greenland, just like one of those âclassicâ mystery submarine hunts in Swedish Waters in the 1960âs, 70âs, 80âs and again as recently as 12 years ago.
Did you ever watch: âWhiskey on the rocks?â
Actually owning resources is not a bad thing IMHO. The argument itself is solid.
You see that with China and Russia.
Of course, if you have the know-how for exploitation and processing so you can sell the refined products thatâs even better.
This is basically what China does in Africa, though more on the âsoft powerâ side (âpersuadingâ governments to let China exploit their resources in exchange for some modern infrastructure and some jobs - China even lends them the money to build all the infrastructureâŚ).
Itâs a crazy plan, though. But who says it canât be pulled off?
You can only fail if you try ![]()
I remember, back in the day when the Ukraine thing started and people explained how Russia felt threatened by NATO East-expansion, one of the arguments was basically "Iâd rather live under a pax americana than under Russian rule.
Well, the pax americana is at your doorstep now.
Yeah! Heard that one more than a few times.
Trump just wants to party like itâs 1939âŚ
And hereâs another âAI generatedâ photo posted by Trump on Truth Social where not only Greenland but Canada also seeâs the US Flag planted over the country, so âwatch out Mark Carney !!â as Trump is gunning for Canada again. ![]()
At this point, heâs just shit-posting for the LULs.
I pity the journalists who have to follow him and a handful of his accolades on TS and X. And Elonâs X account of course, too.
The Swiss ambassador (or a former one) already aired his frustration about this being the first thing to do in the morning and trying to make sense of it so he can cable back something to BernâŚ
Pax Americana = supporting NATO countries because stability is good for free trade.
Attacking NATO country because owning is more important than free trade, not Pax Americana.
Hands up all those who want to petition the BBC to send âNot The Nine OâClock Newsâ reporters to Washington to make sense of Donald Trumps ramblings on Truth Social.

In fact to tell you the truth headline news lately is straight from Not The Nine OâClock News !!

The fun thing is that Greenland left the European Economic Communities (a precursor of the EU) back in 1985. Greenlanders voted in a referendum and the âleaveâ won. They had their Brexit 40 years ago.
Trumpâs admin is literally pushing Greenlanders into the arms of the EU. For a long time, Greenlanders have talked about sovereignty, booo Denmark. Last yearâŚ
Jens-Frederik Nielsen, the prime minister of the self-ruling Danish territory, gave the first-ever address by a leader of Greenland to the European Parliament on Wednesday, which he said came toward the end of âa dramatic year for Greenland.â
âThe world is changing, and itâs changing fast,â Nielsen said, without directly mentioning the American presidentâs saber-rattling. âGreenland needs the European Union, and the European Union needs Greenland.â
Calling the EU âa steadfast friend ⌠during challenging times we are going through right now,â Nielsen talked up the islandâs vast reserves of rare earths and critical minerals, which he said have the potential to âshift global and security balancesâ and are ripe for investment.
âGreenland is ready to move with the EU to hasten the pace,â he said, adding that the island was seeking investments from the European Investment Bank in projects ârelated to infrastructure and raw materials.â
But Nielsen was quick to clarify to reporters after his speech that Greenland would not seek to fully rejoin the bloc. The island left the European Communities, a precursor to the EU, in 1985 after a referendum. While its citizens hold Danish and therefore EU passports, Greenland remains outside the Union.
âLet me say this clear: We are not going to join another country ⌠Right now, we have no plan to be a member of the EU,â he said.
They donât have oil or rare earth deposists.
