Gym cancellation letter ? Example ?

Does anyone have an example of a cancellation letter you've sent? Need to do one, but don't speak German!

Of course check the small print to see what sort of contract you are tied into. What is your cancellation notice?

and send it by registered letter sufficiently in advance. They have to "receive" it, prior to the three months notice period starting.

Must it be mailed or can one just deliver it in person to the gym?

If you are going to deliver it in person, then get them to counter-sign a copy.

Greetings all!

I kindly request assistance with writing a gym cancellation letter in German, and am hoping that Treverus' draft in post #2 here will suffice (with a little tweak) to cater for my situation.

I joined Mrs Sporty gym on 09-12-2014. The contract says something like I can cancel within 14 days of signature should I wish (it is of course in German). After trying the gym 3 times, I realised that their opening and closing times are rather an inconvenience, especially the fact that they close during lunch time. So this is my main reason for cancellation.

How do I tweak Treverus' draft to read "effective immediately"?

I will advise putting a date and send the letter registered mail. Better if you could hand deliver it, take two copies, have them sign one and give it back to you, they keep the other.

Some places will not accept hand delivered cancellation letters. My old gym did this after 1300 on the normal cancellation rush at end of the year quarter to try get another 3 months out of you. They got upset when people got a velo courier and registered letter from the post office instead.

Can you not try using Google Translate for this? I know it's not perfect, but for simple messages like you need here, it seems to work fine.
