Has anyone ever seen/met/knows any famous people in Switzerland?

I thought Switzerland had loads of famous people living here so where the hell are they?

I have lived here a few years now & have never seen one in my local Migros, at the cinema, at a petrol station or anywhere.

I do myself have some claims to fame & have some celeb mates in the UK but....I thought there were loads of them here & I don't think it would be so bad if they sometimes appeared once in a while.

...there must be at least some claims to fame then as an alternative by EF members???

BTW I have good reason to ask...

Well, I don't like to spread this around because those paparazzi can be so annoying, but I was on Truth or Consequences twice when I was six and seven. I won a scooter and a wagon and my mom won a crockpot.

I think one of the reasons why celebrities like being out here is because no one bothers them. I know a few, but

If you want to see celebrities, try NY or LA. They're a dime a dozen out there.

Until a couple of years ago, I used to see Tina Turner frequently (several times in Bahnhofstr) but have not seen her in a while.

I saw Sofia Loren at the Geneva airport some years ago.

We saw Sophia Loren checking in at Geneva airport this summer. We also saw Fabian Cancellara near Bern out training on his bike a few months ago (he is the current World and Olympic time trial champion, has won several Tour de France stages, and the 2009 Tour de Suisse).

I say "we", but it is really my wife who recognized these people, I just happened to be there, too - I'm useless at even recognizing people I know sometimes.

I spoke to Roger Moore in Villars sur Ollon a few years ago when he was visiting Aiglon College where at least one of his children was a scholar at the time. Very laid back and amicable.

Phil Collins at Geneva airport about 10 years ago, telling off a bloke for telling off a check-in agent.

George Clooney at ZRH airport last year (I guess transiting between Lugano and LA).

Federer and Becker various times in my gym. Amazingly almost no one bothers them.

sofia loren gets out a lot then, cause I saw her too when we lived down in Lugano, way back in 02/03 at a hotel up some mountain, that I can't remember now and once got a taxi from agno airport to lugano and was told, hey I just had sofia loren in this cab, right where your sitting...

see the prince of liechtenstein around, does he count, met him at the cash point at denner one day mmmm

I have seen Mr Federer a few times, but more when he is doing offical things rather than just out and about!

Who cares? Really, they're just celebrities. I'd like to imagine most live here for reasons other than tax, but I can't think of any. Migros isn't the first place I'd stake-out, either...
