I've have hausarzt model krankenkasse. I named a doctor at the practice I go to. I went in late last year and she was away, so I saw the other Dr in the practice. I continued to see him about the same issue as it seemed sensible. I didn't think anything of it at the time, same practice and everything. But now I'm worried that because I haven't seen that one specific Dr I named my insurance won't pay out.
Husband seems to think it's no issue, as I did, as they work together. But I don't trust Sanagate.
I've seen the doc sharing my GP's practice on several occasion, when my GP wasn't available, and Assura never batted an eyelid although I also have the GP model insurance.
I think that as long as they share the same practice it doesn't really matter.
You're registered with the practice, not the specific doctor, so it really won't be an issue. It's quite normal to see another doctor in urgent cases or if your normal one is away, so this really isn't much different.
I go to a practice with 2 doctors. I had named one of them on my Hausartz model, but seen both.
Checking the bills, the names on the bills from the Drs were always in one doctors name regardless of who I'd seen. The bills from other places labs/mri etc, the doctors name that had referred me never matched with the doctor I had seen. I assumed with this that it must be fine as they were clearly one entity.
I emailed my insurance company anyway, to add the second Drs name just incase. They replied;
On your policy you can have only one family doctor, but as they work at the same praxis, we have registered an information in our system that also the bills from Dr. *** have to be accepted. So you can go to both doctors. The medical bill of CHF 447.70 has been corrected. In the account of benefits from the 22.01.2014 it is still indicated as not reimbursed but for this bill you will receive a new account of benefits.
They had rejected an MRI bill as it was in the other Doctors name, so just be careful!
our "Hausarzt" works in an office with around 7 others and we see whoever is available - never heard a complaint from the insurance, I guess they're quite happy with us going right away instead of waiting for that one person to find some time for us I guess what is important to them is that you don't always see different doctors, as yours work together that should be ok.
Not always so. You'll need a letter from one GP saying "I was away and my colleague took over... etc. etc.".
You should also ask your GP to write (in the same letter) that they are in the same practice and when on holiday you will transfer.
The other thing about the Hausarzt model, is that in cases of emergency, the rules don't apply and can be waived - but you need to explain this when you submit your claim.
With Visana it seems my HMO practice doctor informs the Visana of any doctor he sends me to. Last year I was sent to about 4 different specialists, with individual bills sent directly to Visana, never was the bill queried.
Yes agreed, but it is financially safer to telephone the Hausartz or HMO doctor first on his emergency number, and then be told which doctor or hospital to use.
