A question. I experience more and more web-sites that are just terrible. Not intuitive, they may send you round in a circle from which there is no escape. Links or services promised on the home page do not materialise.
What is going on? Is AI to blame?
The perfect website is the one that gets you to enter your credit card data the fastest.
Indeed, but my question is really why are web-sites often so bad? Is it cost-cutting? Is it the “just put it out, the customers will tell us what is wrong with it” philosophy? Do these problems get worse with AI?
I think people just don’t take care.
Maybe the person writing the website isn’t the business owner and doesn’t have that much motivation?
A website I have to use was updated last week. Can’t give names, but since it’s not smart to speak publicly against it, it’s easy to figure out which one ![]()
The issue is that the decisions about the website are taken by people that don’t use it. All while having a discussion in a meeting room with a 60+in screen. And, with the website hosted locally or in a server within the building, so there are never performance issues with autoplay video in the homepage. Whatever looks nice and tidy in the huge screen don’t translate to something usable an a 13" laptop screen or even a 22"in extra display.
So, the website is never tested by actual users before launch, and no feedback after. At least the bank sends a survey every once in a while asking what users think about it. I don’t remember any other Swiss company asking for customer feedback about websites. Managers knows best!
Can you give examples?
Basically there are bad websites, horrible phone apps and bad software since day 1. In my experience, the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) is too often overlooked. Also if the business is low budget then lack of funding for decent programmers and DIY implementations by non programmers using WordPress or other website builder software for dummies. In this respect AI could come into play. However, I believe the biggest culprit is marketing. The main reason that software gets bloated. These goons should stick to what they now best. Making funny commercials.
A post was split to a new topic: The approaching mass AI layoffs
If you do this, you need your head examined…
Why you might want to think twice about joining the AI cartoon trend
Galaxus has now found a use for AI. From its app you can scan an image of a product and Galaxus will determine where you can buy it.

That’s great free market research information for them to determine what products to add to their inventory.
Galaxus is your trustworthy friend who cares and gives a dam about your hedonistic needs.
Fantastic news indeed … As if the phrase is not subject to interpretation … Who is going to enforce this? How?
Love the phrasing (get out of jail card) " … and human responsibility for the use of force."
Yesterday a colleague called for some help with a printer, seems the guys had moved it and managed to rip out some cables. He had asked AI what to do and got an answer where to look.
But he still could not find anything
From the error messages I coild where the printer was hurting so I told him what to check. Right where the AI had said to look in the first place.
I must admit wondering if AI is now able to do my job, but it hadnt told my colleague what to do next and how to reset service engine errors.
So, my job is still safe, one- nil to the meatbag. But not for long methinks.
So now its plugged in again?
Get ready for the biggest of all time fund raisers. Almost time to Hop on the bandwagon.

Drama in the Chinese AI scene. Techlead Junyan Lin gets kicked out right after releasing Qwen3.5 (probably the most impressive free AI model right now) - another case where tech talent loses in the Corporate Game of Thrones.
