Health Visitor

Hi, i am a Specialist community public health nurse/Health visitor in England. I have asked the red cross and the nmc if there is an equaliviant role in Switzerland. Both have reported that i need to apply for recognition and pay for this, before they will tell me!!!!!!! Does anyone know if it would be worth me paying this sum to get the ball rolling, or do i need to work back in the hospital?? Im confused?? I only want to see if my role excists!!!

Thanks

The major company here for nursing at home is named Spitex. Maybe the answer is on their website?

for any nursing position here you will need to apply for recognition of your qualification by the red cross, you will also need to be fluent in the language of your chosen area in CH......eg french, german, italian and have certfication to prove this.

We can't expect sameness between the education systems.

For many jobs/functions/qualifications the equivalent is not easy to find, or not the one to expect at first sight, since paths, competences and requisites are different.

Moreover, to get an equivalence here goes through a very formal process that ends with the delivery of an official and personnal document.

Very recommended if you want to find a job in Switzerland.

Hi, I am curious did you find a similar role for the health visitor in Switzerland?? If so what is this best way to start looking, my partner, has just been offered a job in Basel and starts next year.

You ́d need to get your degree recognized first, best to contact the Swiss Red Cross to see what the requirements are (apart from language requirements)

Note that as well as the language requirement, it’ll cost several thousand francs for the recognition and probably take quite some time.

The UK rôle of 'Health Visitor' doesn't exist in the same format really.

However- unless you speak and write the national language of the part of Switzerland where you want to work/practise- the question is irrelevant as such. Which as a health practitioner will make total sense to you.

Indeed. Novice Italian isn’t going to help much in Basel which is German speaking. You need at least B2 spoken and written iirc and given Basel’s international flavour you may need to have French as well. Again check with the Swiss Red Cross.
