Heimatschein/family card

Hello and help! I am a Swiss national but haven't really ever lived in Switzerland so don't have the official paper trail that a Swiss person would have. I am now registered with the Swiss Embassy in London and moving to Switzerland this summer. I have been told that I may need a Heimatschein and Family Card (?) as I have 2 children, any ideas how I go about getting these? Do I need to get these prior to moving or can I wait until I land? Also can't find what Heimatschein is in French as I my place of origin is actually in a French speaking Canton and we are moving to a german speaking one! any info and guidance gratefully received! thank you

You have to order them from your Heimatort.

Tom

Thank Tom sorry if this is incredibly basic but what department do I need to contact? Do you think they would send it to me in the UK? and will it take a long time?

Just contact the offices of your Heimatort via email or phone.

They will tell you what to do, how much it costs, etc.

Tom

This Wiki page explains the Heimatschein (acte d'origine/ déclaration de domicile) concept in German:

This Swiss government website explains where to order an acte d'origine. Change the page to French as needed:
