Hello! Preparing to move to Geneva from London in Jan 2021

Hello everyone! Useful forum; thanks for having me!

I am getting ready to move to Geneva from London with 6-year old daughter followed by husband and dog (Yorkie) in 2021 (starting with me and my daughter in Jan). Any advice especially on schools and also on keeping a dog in Geneva most welcome in relation to flats etc.

Lucky you, I love Geneva. The river Rhone area is great for dog walking so I recommend looking for a flat with easy access to the river bank.

As regards flat hunting, crossing the lake is a traffic nightmare so best to have a flat on the same side as where you work.

Yes, what Dack said about accommodation. Getting across Geneva is a nightmare so try and find something on the same side of the river as your workplace is located.

As far as schools go, your commune (the admin for the area you live in) will allocate her a place at their school. At 6 years old she shouldn’t have too much trouble picking up French and schools here are well set up to help with this.
