helloooo :)

Hi,

Ive recently moved to a small village just outside of Basel about 4 months ago with my brothers, sisters and parents.

ive already found an internship but im younger than everyone i work with so i havent found any friends there.

im having trouble making friends and im hoping that this forum might change that

I really am an optomistic person and i really love this place, need some fun lovers to enjoy it with

Kelly xx

Welcome to the Forum and Basel Kelly, there are lots of youngsters lurking here! Maybe join a social event organized in Basel or Zurich?

aw thatnkyou for the welcome

Welcome to CH and the forum. Lot's of friendly english speaking persons. If you make your way to Zurich tonight you can meet a whole bunch of such.

Enjoy!

Hi Kelly, welcome to the forum there's always plenty going on in the social events section, so keep an eye out there.

By the way I read "fun lovers" totally differently to how it was intended

Hi Kelly, and welcome to the EF!! English girl who just moved from New Jersey? How long were you there before you came here?

As others have said, check out the Social Events section - lots of things in there!

Oh, and as for "younger than everyone", are you old enough to drink in bars?

Welcome to the forum Kelly. I hope you settle in well.

Welcome to Basel!

Hi,

I lived in NJ for 4 years, whole of high school there haha the best of the american expirence haha.

so yes i am legal to drink in bars here..unfortunatley for my parents haha.

If it's only beer and wine, then drinking age over here is 16 ... still not completely used to that, tbh.

Anyhow, enjoy your time in Switzerland! Hope you get a bunch of friends together soon.

Hi Kelly..

maybe we should get the newer members to update this old post:

wow... everyone tells me to come here. 10% thats it? i dont know what to do.

If you see a girl with a giant british flag above her head and a sign reading ENGLISH BTW...in Basel, Thats me...so close to doing this.

hello,

Welcome to the forum Kelly,

hope you find lots and lots and lotttsss of friends here.

Have fun,

Farah.

I'm guessing that the majority of EFers are mid career, while the 10% you mention are still at uni/too busy partying to spend much time on EF.

What about sports or treading the boards as a way to meet people? There's a couple of expat sporting groups around, as well as English-speaking acting groups around Basel.

It will be slower going though. When I came over as a 26 year old a few years ago, meeting peers was hard as most expats are in late 20s++ (which as we know is just sooooo old ).

Whats up? I just got to Basel from the US about two weeks ago after graduating college. Everyone at my work speaks English and have offered to take me places but have yet to find many people my age around town, that speak english, to hit the bars/clubs with...let me know if you find anything.. (and yes, members, i will keep my eye on the 'social' calendar)

Lmfao that sounds like me just i brugg hahaa

anyone up for making a meeting point in zurich in like 2 weeks?

It takes time but you'll find some people little by little. In the mean time, go meet some of the girls who are over 25 & maybe go hang around places near the university.

Hello,

If anyone's planning a Zürich trip count me in!

Stew

Every Monday a diverse group of mainly young people (I do my best to bring the average age up a bit) meet in Mitte; a cafe in central Basel.
