I am in St. Gallen and recently I have discovered a mouse in my house! I have heard that the best solution is a cat. I dont know anyone with a cat, so I am wondering if anyone in the area can help with lending one, perhaps even someone is going away and needs a sitter for their cat? I have had many cats growing up, and will treat him or her wonderfully while they stay in my home.

I wonder if anyone will LEND his cat to catch mice for you As a cat owner, I would not be willing to do that....You sound like being a cat lover. Have you ever considered getting a cat for yourself ? It's not just for functional purpose but a good company.
I am a cat lover, but unfortunately my current lifestyle (traveling a lot) doesn't allow for me to adopt a pet permanently. I understand you wouldn't want to lend your cat, but there may be others who would like to help, and what about those who have pets and are in need of a sitter?
I have a friend who lives in St.Gallen i can ask her if she will lend you her cat. Where abouts are you in St.Gallen?
I think a own-your-own mouse trap won't run away as fast as a borrowed cat...
Also keep in mind that not every cat is a good mouser.

there was a report in 20 Minuten regards mice this year in Switzerland. Apparently due to the mild winter, there are large amounts of mice, both domestic & wild around this year.
Staff at some of the smaller grass aereodromes are frantically trying to get rid of the nests on the landing strips. Any Pied Pipers out there ?
Sorry op, my freind was never around to ask, and i finaly got hold of her, she said her cat would not be good at catching the mice, as it as never seen 1, and would not know what to do.

When you do get a mouse trap keep in mind that the common assumption that mice like cheese and bacon is totally wrong. They much more prefer chocolate and peanut butter!
My dad always put cheese on the traps in the attick, and now i know why they never worked, 1 christmas my parents had hidden selection boxes in the attick, and when they wanted to bring the boxes down on christmas morning the mice had eaten the chocolate .

We had mice this past winter. I made a humane trap with instructions off the internet. We caught a mouse on two occasions and each time drove it (Paul and Ringo) at least two miles from the house and let them go in a field. Saw a hawk when we were driving away so don't know if Ringo made it! You can also buy humane or kaput traps at garden centres.
Well all, I am so grateful for you tips and concerns and advice and so on. I figure it is only right to let you know what happened. My hero (aka boyfriend) managed to humanely capture the mouse (in a plastic bag nonetheless) and let it go outside. He also told me that said mouse was cute, but I cannot say because I avoided bag at all costs.
I have not seen another one yet... knoooooooock on woood!!!
