They have it- look for Pflegespülung or balsam. Did you know that hair conditioners and clothes softeners generally contain some kind of teflon like stuff that coats the hair-hence build-up.
Among the supermarket brands, I find that Pantene Pro-V conditioner is the most effective. Hint for spotting it on the shelves: its black cap is on the bottom.
While we are at it, how about sharing the hair conditioner you like? I picked up the blue Dove this time, but it aint no magic potion. Anyone found their magic conditioner yet?
Try using a clarifying shampoo or seom kind of vinegar rinse to get rid of build up first. Hard water is really bad for hair- the more you wash it the more residue. I like Dove intensive for damged hair- but I am sure that it has the silicon microcapsules: Conditioners may sometimes add weight to hair, creating an adverse effect in the shampooing/conditioning process. Some conditioners, especially those containing a silicone compound, may coat the hair and lead to build up on the hair, making it dull, and lead to harsher shampoo use; in a sense, an endless cycle of shampooing and conditioning. When used correctly, however, conditioners are helpful in temporarily coating the hair to increase shine and ease tangles. Buildup is when the hair has a sticky or gummy feel, the conditioner choice seems to work less well, or the hair may be more prone to tangling. Buildup occurs when the minerals from water and/or products are not rinsed away during shampooing. A clarifying shampoo may be required to remove it. Clarifying removes all things on the surface of the hair strands, essentially leaving the hair without moisture. Failure of conditioning as part of a clarifying hair wash process may lead to excessive drying of hair. Viable natural ways to condition the hair include rinses with lemon juice, lime juice, or vinegar. The use of acid rinses may assist those who have itchy scalps, depending on the cause for the itchiness. Hair which is lacking sebum may also be softened using plant oils such as olive oil and coconut oil. Wikipedia-as ever.
Nope. I keep trying. Sometimes I'll just wash my hair in the shower and then use Garnier leave-in conditioner after I get out.
My husband (he has the long hair in this family) uses the green Timotei shampoo and conditioner and then uses a little of the Garnier leave-in conditioner on the ends.
Our Coop sells more shampoos than conditioners. If I want to buy the matching conditioner I have to go to a bigger Coop in Luzern. Very odd, and also annoying.
I was whining to my hairdresser about my hair and he asked what I used and I said, well, I have loads of stuff. This made him practically slap me on the wrist, according to him, you should use the conditioner that goes with the shampoo as they are formulated to go together. He wasn't bothered about whether it was salon stuff or not, just use the matching things. Will be trying that out and seeing whether it achieves better results. Also, don't keep changing, find something you like and stick to it. Difficult for me as I'm your typical "ooooh, new stuff!" shopper.
I have found a magic conditioner, just not in CH. So everytime someone visits me from the homeland I make them bring a couple for me. its by Schwarzkopf, in the Göt2b line and its called Hottie deep rescue conditioner. It smells awesome and works better than ANY conditioner I have EVER tried.
Sit in the bath with two of your favourite honies / hunks and mash avocado into each others hair. Concentrate on other areas for a few minutes, then rinse. Repeat if capable. Works for me.
I use Belherbal Gruner Tee Conditioner from Migros. It costs something arount 6 - 10CHF only (don't remember exactly). But I really like it and it didn't harm my hair so far.
John Frieda's Frizz Ease Wunderkur (silver tub/mauve lid) is a brilliant conditioning treatment and works wonders on my hair, which has been really dry since I came here. I bought it in Co-Op in Zug.
I use Pantene and Migros has it on sale (3 or 4 pack) frequently. I use it because it's a good product and isn't that expensive. It's great for just normal hair washing.
For something special I use KMS California. I've only seen it here in the salons. It's pricey but this company makes great products and if you only want to use it every once in awhile, it's worth it.
Redken products (salon also) are great but they are just about 3x the price here of what they are in the US - CHF 40 compared to $17. - too ridiculous for me.
