There's many things they'll sell you to combat itchiness, but calamine I've been unable to find.

And I always thought an Iccifanni was an Italian motorbike.

Head on over to your local pharmacy and explain the problem. They will either have something behind the counter, or the chemist can probably whip something up.

If you can't figure anything out, I have a new tube of calamine cream I got at Boots pharmacy in case our baby ever needs it. Since my sister is visiting in about six weeks from London and can bring more, I don't mind to squeeze half of it out into a travel container for you. We're in Bassersdorf.

Depending on the kind of itching you have:

- Fenistil gel for a small area, Feniallerg (drops for generalized itchiness such an allergic reaction)

- Euceta, also for small area

- oat pads for the bath (itchy dry skin)

For chicken pox, either Poxklin or the special white cream they prepare in every pharmacy.

There is an equivalent to calamine. We got some when the kids got chicken pox.... The calamine we had in Australia was pink, but this stuff from Switzerland was white.

If you go to the pharmacy, write down 'Calamine BP' 'Calamine USP'.

BP= British Pharmacopoeia

USP= United States Pharmacopeia

These are essentially the 'recipe books' that the pharmacists use. You need to speak to the 'Pharmacist on duty' - not just the person behind the counter... or ask the counter-person to ask the pharmacist.

My preferred place to ask would be the big pharmacy at the Zurich hauptbahnhof. They have an enormous pharmacy stock out the back, and most of the people I've spoken to there speak really good english.

In German, Zinc Oxide suspension is " Zinkoxid-Schüttelmixtur"

I just ordered some form Amazon.fr:

Funny that it's hard to find when it's on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines.

Doesn^t say much for the WHO.
