I am a U.S. citizen preparing for marriage in Switzerland. My fiancee and I have completed and submitted all of our paperwork for marriage in our local town/Canton. To proceed with the immigration process, they told us that I need to obtain "Strafregisterauszug", which is a police clearance. I found information on these two sites, but both are required to be fingerprinted (in the U.S. I believe).

I researched the process online and through the forum and I have received different answers. I need this information for Aarau mitigation and I have less than a month now to produce it. Any English speakers from America, please help.
My question is how do I do this from here? Also, will the Canton take a private agency that does background checks (US Search, etc.)? Do these documents look official? I contacted the U.S. Embassy in Bern and they weren't any help. They couldn't provide me any answers. I do not have any previous criminal background. Any information you can provide for me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi,
Take a look at this page https://www.e-service.admin.ch/crex/...afregister_en/
You could always send them an email if you still aren't sure.
Good luck!
Hi. I'm actually going through the same process. After several phone calls to the Embassy in Bern, it was determined that I could have my fingerprints completed at the kantonal police. I downloaded the fingerprint form from the FBI website and took it along with the appropriate ID and fees to the station. I then followed the directions on the FBI website and I'm "patiently" awaiting the results.

I hope this helps!
Oh...and you should probably call the Migrationsamt to extend your deadline. I initially had about a month to obtain all of the documents, but the FBI results take 8 to 10 weeks to process!
We just received this letter as well
Went to the website Geen recommended, https://www.e-service.admin.ch/crex/...afregister_en/ , and decided to call Migrationsamt to make sure I was in the correct area. The woman at Migration wasn't familiar with the site, but after I read the info off to her she gave me the 'go-ahead'. Worried about sending the correct forms, not worried about the results.
If this doesn't work, my brother is a police officer -- maybe he can run an official criminal record check for me?
That question was answered on this thread:
What kind of "criminal record" do they want to see?
This is odd. I suspect they didn't understand your question, you asked a different question, or they simply stopped doing it.
Why do they want a criminal record extract when you're leaving?
