On startup the Mac will look for Bluetooth devices just make sure they are discoverable. If necessary you can turn on discoverability on the Mac when the Bluetooth System Preferences pane is open.
Its the initial set up that I mean where one puts in language,etc etc.

Crazy that with macos desktop one has to install an app just to change the mouse scrolling direction. The Americans are wierd.

If you have Non-apple mouse you may need third-party software. That is the fault of the mouse maker who was too lazy to make it fully compatible.
Yes. But I have logitech mouse so it did not work with Natural scrolling setting.
