Help with resin sink scratches

Dear English Forum Members,

I need your help!

We have resin bathroom sinks and I have noticed some scratches on mine and some discolouration. Does anyone know of any products I can use to repair these scratches? I would hate to think how much a new sink would cost!

You could visit a large Migros or Coop DIY store and buy some car paint scratch remover. It is a mild abrasive, and removes the top surface of car paint. You can also buy some car polish, to shine the basin after removing the scratches, it will be as new. This is hard work, so maybe you need to start early!

but if you get it wrong you will have a dull sink full of scratches... I hope it is not a kitchen sink...

Have you tried bleach based products? you just have to make sure you rinse it well afterwards.

Alternatively Migros sells a chlorine based cleaner called POTS with a green spray top. Also good for making your window seals white again should you not ventilate your house properly and you get the mould build up...

Important tips... Always spot check before you use. Never leave it on for too long. Don't mix chlorine and bleach - that is a bit dangerous...

Well, it's sort of off-white. Thanks for the tips, I will go to Migros and see what I can find! :-)

I'd visit a good quality kitchen shop and find same sinks and ask for professional advice.

Maybe you do not understand?

The product cleans paintwork on cars, it will not scratch resin nor Acrylic, nor the paintwork on a Bentley.

my sink and toilet are ok, but the shower basin gets orange marks colour, that presume is residue from water. So far have found using 'Tin' (product) with a sponge has done the trick

The Migros I went to didn't have the car polish so will try another one tomorrow. I do like the idea of visiting a kitchen shop for advice! Moggy, where do you buy the 'Tin' stuff from? I'm looking at all avenues! Once again, thanks everyone.

If you have a Jumbo nearby, check out the automotive section. They normally have a good selection of car care products.

hi, think got it in Otto's what I presently have is Yellow bottle, Scheuermilch, or Crema detergente. It is cheap stuff, they also do it in a powder form, a bit like Vim in UK .

I use Meister Proper (someone told me that is the Deutsch equivalent of Mr Muscle in UK) on the floor. When my Tin looks like running out will be looking for the equivalent in Meister Proper with a spray top

OK, I have another solution entirely.

Have you tried the alkaline sponges? Mostly used to clean the wall but can also be used on white resin outdoor furniture... well that is what the box implies.

These can be purchased from coop, migros or any hardware store.

On the box it says in Deutsch "Schmutz Radier-Schwämme - Radiert Flecken und Verschmutzungen einfach weg!"

A similar product in English is http://www.mrclean.com/en_US/magic-eraser.do (beware if you have not used this product before that you must use a glove and you must keep away from children - they look deceptively childproof)

I am using them to clean marks of my walls (almost white paper wallpaper)... which is quite tricky for some marks.
