Help with schweinsbrustspitz??

I was hoping to get some spare ribs today but I couldnt find any so I came home with some 'schweinsbrustspitz' (Coop) can I treat these the same as spare ribs??

I was hoping to pop them in a slow cooker with a home made BBQ sauce, and get the same effect as sticky spare ribs. Or have Igot something completely different?

I m not that great at the cuts of meat over here and cant quite work out what I have!

any help would be appreciated thanks!

They should be fine. If you want ribs you are better off going to a local butchers.

If there is a Manor near your place they have spare ribs.

That is pretty much exactly what I use them to do... Place in casserole dish, slather in bbq sauce, cover and bake for about 2hrs (or more, if I've time) at about 170°C, then a futher 15min uncovered at 200°C to carmelize the sauce on the top.

Or you can ask the butcher to cut them in half and cook them like a stew.

use it like spare ribs

Gosh they look great! in the end I left them in the slow cooker too long and the meat fell of the bone, but the meat was so good, I stirfried some veg and served it shredded with the BBQ sauce and rice it was lovely not what i intended but great all the same
