HELP with understanding cell phone numbers

Hello,

I know this may be super basic and there may already be a thread answering this, but I can't find it. We just moved here and just got a pre-paid Orange cell phone. The number they gave us is really long, and we are not sure what all the numbers mean. Do we need to dial all the numbers when making phone calls? To clarify, I am asking about phone calls within Zurich to other phone numbers in Zurich.

I won't put our actual phone number (I remember reading we can't do that) but here is the format:

04178 xxx xx xx

you missed a zero at the beginning.

0041 is the country code - guess you know that though?

078 xxxxxxxxx would be your number or format to use
