Hi All,
I am drinking quite a few cups of herbal tea every day. I find prices ie for branded teas from online retailers to be rather expensive.
Where can I buy whitelabel herbal tea in Zurich?
I am not sure if it is what you are looking for but iherb sells many herbal teas in bulk bags. I had ordered also some from amazon.de in bulk and you can also get some from Berg Apotheke in Zurich Stauffacher but it really depends on which teas you are aiming for All of these sell organic
I make my own from the garden, verbena, melissa, several types of mint, valerian, rosemary, oregano, thyme, meadowsweet, and all sorts. Costs nothing.
Are you inviting OP to come and pick it up?
Thanks for this!, I'll try the Apotheke for sure, regarding iherb and amazon.de, do herbal teas have customs charges?, unlike ie books ?
I drink mostly Hibiscus, Peppermint, Ginger. I'm open to trying herbal teas from the Alps as well but lack a good guide on their properties
Have you tried Aldi, Lidl or Otto's ? They all have cheaper brands...
iherb adds Swiss taxes at the checkout (which is not much) and free delivery on 40USD+ orders
amazon.de depends really on the seller. if the product is sold by amazon.de itself then they sort out the tax (actually you pay less because ch vat is lower than de vat). You are also safe on orders below 65chf including shipping
The reduced VAT rate of 2.5% applies to books. If tea is a foodstuff it should also qualify for 2.5%.

A bit far from Zurich, but why not.
Point is, if OP has a bit of space, s/he could grow quite a lot of stuff, in pots if necessary. Verbena, rosemary and melissa are very easy in pots, and can be pruned every couple of weeks and cuttings dried.
Actually, my place has a balcony, I could try growing some in pots - where did you find seeds and what resource do you recommend on how to grow these teas ?
local Aldi doesn't have pure herbal teas, Lidl is a bit far, first time I hear of Otto's - will give Otto's a shot, it's not too far off one of my walking routes, so will check it out.
It would be easy to grow mint to make your own tea but the other two are a bit more difficult.
Mint grows like a weed and doesn’t need much looking after.
Thank you - though I don't drink Mint ~ "some research suggests that mint could cause a dip in testosterone levels." ~
Ah, what do you mean by peppermint? I assumed you meant mint.
I believe they're "relatives" but not the same herb - but it actually looks like peppermint also lowers testosterone, so will probs stop drinking it after the current box finishes
Peppermint is easy to grow too, and grows wild all along waterways. Hibiscus is easy to grow in a pot, surely?
As for ginger, you can buy some in most shops.
There are many books around to explain the properties of most herbs, and so many internet sites too.
Don’t plant mint. It doesn’t grow like a weed, it grows like a monster weed from outer space intent on planetary conquest. Bamboo’s the same but I don’t think too many people drink bamboo tea.
Mint should only be grown in pots. It’s fine then.
In my old Vicarage cottage garden, I let my mints do their thing and pick constantly to dry and pull up when it truly gets too cheeky. Got English mint, apple mint, pineapple mint, peppermint and melissa (lemon mint).
