Home internet - short contract?

I am looking for home internet with a short contract. I don't like contracts in general, and the 24 months that Sunrise and Swisscom seem to offer are not interesting to me. I currently use tethering by mobile phone, which works mostly fine. But having something in the house including for guests also makes sense. Any suggestions?

Sunrise Prepaid unlimited gives you unlimited 4G+ and calls and sms for 2.50 a day. If you don't use a day, you don't pay.

Or one month notice contracts for 60 francs or 20 francs.

Wingo also do 1month contracts but there is an activation fee to pay, and they have upped the prices recently it seems (they are basically the budget version of Swisscom)

Ask your mobile phone provider for a second SIM "for a tablet" without a phone number or new contract attached. It is 8 or 10chf per month extra no contract tie in at all. Sunrise and Salt do similar offers to this. I put that sim in my old phone with cracked screen in the attic on a charger with hotspot turned on and leave it there. Not having a number only affects dialing out.

We get really bad data around the house living in the sticks but in the attic is fine, so this solves another problem. The data usage is shared with my unlimited mobile phone contract which has no notice period.

I also run the free Alfred app on another phone as a security camera with remote speaker/intercom facility! This connects to the hot spot. I can shout instructions to visitors from wherever.

Thanks, I am going to review the links. Sone seem to be for mobile phone service but I am more looking for home internet without a long contract. For mobile I already have a plan for 20 CHF unlimited with a 1 month notice.

You haven't said why mobile is not good enough for you. I had Swisscom fibre in Zurich, amazingly low latency, fantastic, never enjoyed Internet so much. I would only go fixed for low latency. It was expensive, 60chf per month, long contract. Fixed is a luxury I can't afford to justify as I am rarely home.

I use mobile tethering now actually. I want wifi in my house for guests. I don't care if it is mobile. I just want a Wifi router. I don't want a contract.

Maybe I just get a second SIM for 5 chf per month and a Mobile router? Any advice in a good mobile router?

Don't do the second SIM .. if you check closely in the fine print you will see that it has a limited amount of usage and anything over the limit will cost a lot more than usual, i know this from experience, I have an unlimited Swisscom contract and fell exactly into this trap.

Mine says unlimited, no throttling. It even says in the FAQ you can use a router.

I have a Huawei E5885LS-93A. I doubt it is easy to find it now, and given the possibility, I would go for a 5G one (if your second sim allows), but in any case perhaps you can choose a newer model of the same brand/style . I found it quite nice actually, I leave it plugged in 24/7, and it only needs an ocassional reset (at most once or twice per week under ver heavy load).

Anyway, I am going with this setup. 4G unlimited data/calls on mobile, plus a mobile hotspot with no stupid contract for 25 CHF per month total. There are routers on AliExpress for 20 CHF. That solves bith my guest and my budget issue. My apartment is small anyway.
