Oh, I dont disagree with the fact that the governmental approved curriculum needs a reform.
You dont have to force them, they will take any kind of flavor of indoctrination you serve up as face value.
If you were a tooth gnasching religios fanatic they will turn out the same, that sword cuts both ways.
The park collage degree rando teacher teaching that boys can be girls and girls can be boys seems to be a uniquley American thang, here in civilizied countrires that kind of thing doesnt happen in any meaningful way. (as far as I know)
Doesn’t meaningfully happen in America either except in the fevered imagination of the MAGAs.
Speaking of indoctrination…
Indeed, my school taught Latin, French, German and Welsh.
Homes are usually not equipped with safe laboratories for teaching Chemistry, Physics, and Biology, although, given a choice, I would pass on dissecting a frog.
Religous Education turned out better than expected, our teacher chose to teach us about different religions; first time I learnt Muslims worship the same Abrahamic God as Christians.
I guess the homeschooling parents just pop on a YouTube and the kiddo can watch the experiment, no fuss no mess. Maybe there’s a niche for influencers doing Chemistry experiments in Latin to kill two birds with one stone? ![]()
It shouldn’t be happening at all.
Well, I hope his Japanese is better than his English. さようなら
Same experience with home-schooled 20-somethings. A level of naïveness and rigid thinking that made people hard or impossible to work with. Business skills close to zero. But, beyond 30-35 YO it becomes hard to spot a home-schooled one in the wild. It probably means life teaches a thing or two after their emancipation as everyone else.
@Argauer: about education in general, learning something to make money is the easy part. Learning about what’s out there in the world is a bit harder. Not everyone has academic leaning, and that’s perfectly fine. If a kid chooses that path also fine.
About indoctrination, everyone does it. Religious organizations do that for a living, business organizations with a “strong culture” too. Any group of people will offer an ideology at first chance. The way out is to spot indoctrination and skip it. The indoctrination in the school system is just one risk among many.
Personally, my parents also had weird ideas. It worked out in the end because they are just a little weird, minimal social isolation, and the family remained always a relatively safe place. But, I look back and I see the risk. I only had my family and if something happened to it or within it, I would have sunk as a rock in water. I had little else at the time to rely on. I only opened to the world after realizing the weirdness in my family…and started to see the issues in true home-schooled kids.
My upbringing was different, after my father remarried his new wife took control over every aspect of his life. Problem os that she wasnt the brightest bulb in god’s illumination except in a “mine first” way. I got fed, a roof over my head and occasionaly new clothes and that was it, my father became distant and even as a kid I got the feeling that I was not welcome, her own son out of her first marriage on the other hand got the sugar blown up his ass.
So at a young age I learned to be independant, even going so far as to take an apprenticeship all the way up near Hanau.
Her daughter in law died (hell needed a new demon) her son drank himself to an early grave leaving her in charge of three horrible grandkids.
My father earned well and left her a weathy woman, the three have now blown her savings of around 300.000 and have just been gifted the house worth ca.400.000.
For a while they were homeschooled as they were deemed too unfit to join a regular school.
I saw the teacher on occasion and he was the kind of creature that Aargauer was mentioning. Only he was teaching them to grab what they can take and screw everybody else and now they have the social skills of PolPot and the morals of a seagul.
That is hard to resist.
I knew people who had to do business trips abroad and would travel at weekends to work a full week.
When the business decided to downsize, they were out the door just as fast as I was.
Loyalty in large businesses is a one-way street.
No you can’t, children aren’t small adults. Body and brain haven’t developed enough at that age to make that kind of claim.
Also, indoctrination doesn’t even begin to compare with education. Though I wouldn’t disagree, if someone asserted such, that a good amount of the contemporary curriculum is much more indoctrination than it is education.
The omnipresent toxic and utterly irrelevant ad hominems by the XYZ, you lot simply can’t help yourselves.
But there’s no doubt it made you feel good, superior, and totally educated.
I am not against home schooling of kids until roughly 10 - 12 years old, yet, they require properly trained tutors. I was kicked out of school 3 times, for ‘challenging authority…and not repenting’ (i.e. telling the teachers they were full of BS, and what they were teaching was wrong). Yes, that type of kid.
After speaking to the Head of school, my father picked me up from ‘confinement’ , took me home, told me that I was technically right, and explained me (every time) that there are different ways to make your point…my mother was mortified, but my father was…kind of proud ![]()
During the 3 months that I was ‘home schooled’ I advanced much more in all of the subjects, than what my school mates had done.
Not really. Why would it? It’s this constant pushing of the myth that ‘teachers are trying to change the gender of kids’, which was borne out of the MAGA dog-whistle agenda and is slowly polluting Europe. We don’t need to give it a platform here.
If there is evidence of widespread cases in Europe do quote them, but otherwise let’s just leave it be.
Time has passed and another country, I guess i can write this publicly (no one will care).
During Covid lockdowns, some engineers choose to stay at the construction site of a dam. They chose that site as their home and stayed there almost a year without leaving. My employer invented the medal for “can’t believe how id…”, sorry medal for merit of whatever and gave it to them.
No idea if they already got the boot, but hard to believe how this can work without indoctrination. Compared to the job, the school is a game.
Right, exactly. And “team culture” is only as good as the P/L is. Took me >10 years to figure that out…
My experience with the Swiss school system is that it remains politically neutral, and we haven’t really encountered any of the woke indoctrination / identity politics that can be seen elsewhere.
That has been our experience as well.
It’s so funny man - we have presumably English native speakers arguing constantly in bad faith… If I’m so stupid and your thoughts are so superior, you might have a better time sharing them with us, instead of constantly just attacking my person…
I still haven’t said a single thing against them, because I don’t believe this is a healthy and especially not a Swiss way of dealing with stuff, but it’s pretty much what you experience with all “progressive” dressed facists… I would find more inclusion as a black person in a neo nazi gnag than I could ever in spheres these guys live their live.
Luckily for me / us you aren’t gaining any significant political capital by doing so, and if anything, this radicalizes people further to the right. The amount of times I get attacked is crazy and it doesn’t lead to anything either, except for a few pads on the back from other braindead left idiots.
School is so immensely inefficient I think 50% of the time is still a conservative estimate.
Your dad probably experienced himself what a scam the education system is. It’s more or less a lefty circle jerk and especially now, that we have > 2/3 of the teachers being women, it’s over anyways (since women are waaaay more left leaning than men).
Funnily enough they’ll have to deal with students who don’t respect women in the future anyway, so maybe that balances out?
No, they’re much more sneaky than that. They claim that it’s “perfectly normal to have difficulties with sexual identity” … except that it’s absolutely not for 99.9% of the population. Not to mention that this whole rainbow agenda was more or less classified as a mental illness less than 20y ago.
In trade school our teacher was an old politician of the greens. She was pretty based (originally from a mountain canton) and recently left the party. If you think that Switzerland has no real wokeness/lefties, you’ll be in for a surpise, as both poles of the political spectrum are pretty much hardening here as well.
