Hospital recommendation

Hello,

I'm planning on having a surgery in Switzerland, I have already contacted some hospitals in the Zurich area, and since I've been getting varied quotes from them I became not sure how reputable each one is. Anyway, could you please recommend a hospital with excellent reputation for surgery and neurological checkup? Or a good one in general that can handle international patients?

You are coming from abroad? Paying yourself without Swiss health insurance?

You might get different quotes because the facilities are likely different, and the services may differ - not so much medically necessary services, but extras that they might tack on for hotel type service. Food, accommodation, etc. they might charge differently because they have different financial models for self-pay, non Swiss patients.

Even under Swiss insurance, there are basic (2-4 in a room), semi private (2) and private (1) in a room....were the quotes given assuming the same service?

The best way to evaluate the service is to gauge the experience of the doctors - how many and how often is a procedure performed, whether or not the doctors do research and/or train new doctors, evaluate the amenities of the facility.

You might check with the Hirslanden group, the university of Zürich, and Paraclesus for the sake of comparison.

if you don't even know which hospital is good and which is not, then why look to have surgery in Switzerland?

Sorry for not giving extra information. I contacted both Bethanien and Hirslanden, and both are private hospitals but both gave different quotes for the same service and procedure with Bethanien being considerably more expensive. I am okay with their quote, I just want to get done with this surgery under good hands, so if you can recommend the best in terms of doctors and service I will be grateful to you.

Mainly because local hospitals aren't that good, and I've been to Switzerland before and I liked the excellent quality of services there.

Sorry for not answering before. Yes, and Yes.

Have a look here ? https://which-hospital.ch/

"Best service" is very individual IMO and can vary also depending on the period of treatment (many/few patients, staff rotation, etc.). Why not check directly with the hospitals the points that are important to you and then compare ? Good luck with the surgery !

If you are having a rare procedure, you want the facility with the most experience, and otherwise, the facility you’re most comfortable with. For a risky procedure, somewhere with the full complement of intensive care services.

I don’t have direct knowledge of neuro docs here, sorry, but that’s how I’d make my decision. Can you talk to the docs before deciding?

Thank you everyone for the advice, the kind wishes and for bearing up with me. I will try to ask for the doctor info from each hospital and get their feedback. I appreciate your time everyone.
