Hotel just south of Calais

Hi There, I am planning to drive from Manchester to Lausanne using the Eurotunnel in the middle of May and I am looking for somewhere to stay just south of Calais. One night, parking, near the autoroute A26. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I stayed around Reims when I drove Wallis to Manchester. I was looking for a pet friendly place and stayed in an apart hotel with enclosed parking and a grass area to take the dog out on. Appart City Reims Parcs des expositions

Thanks but I did not want to go as far as Reims.

I will bear it in mind though.

Have you done a search for hotels + Calais? When I found myself going the other way last year and had booked an early train there were countless options, reasonable prices, within a couple of miles of the terminal.

We once stayed on a campground in a roulotte about 30 minutes from Calais. It was a lovely place, but I cannot remember the name unfortunately.

We use the Ibis car ferry hotel coming the other way from Switzerland to UK; not too far from the ferry port and easy access from the A26. Think they might have one nearer to the Eurotunnel as well.

What used to be called Ibis (in Calais anyway) is now B&B hotels. They have three * rated hotels in the same complex, not sure which we usually use, 2* I think.

We've often stayed there; reasonably cheap, secure parking, in-house restaurant plus others opposite.

One of my favorite places is Escallas, just a few clicks past Sangatte. There are two nice hotels there just a km away from the white cliffs.

Have a look at the post. „How to kill a periwinkle“

Do you just want to eat and sleep or do you want to have an evening walk around as well?

I've stayed at Ibis type hotels in Arras (in the centre), and the hill-top towns of Laon and St. Quentin - all three are between Calais and Reims and are pleasant places to spend a couple of hours stretching your legs.

Huh? Ibis have the Car Ferry one, Ibis Style Calais Centre and Hotel F1 Calais Coquelles

Not sure, you don’t want to look around their rooms with a UV light.

We often stay at Chateau Tilque . It’s about 35 mins from Calais and in the middle of nowhere - you’ll need satnav.

Posh, with an indoor pool and good food. Not cheap, which most EFers are always asking for…

See my post here .

We had a great overnight here; parking in front, very good value rooms, great breakfast and walking distance to the old town centre.

Haven’t been there in a while but the website is still active so…

same.....good for family & pets

Thanks everyone for your suggestions etc. Much appreciated xx.
